Chanteuse Maureen McGovern is workshopping a one-woman show entitled "A Long and Winding Road" at the Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts through Saturday, March 21, under the auspices of the Huntington Theatre. She details her life journey, from growing up in Ohio in the 50's and 60's, through personal and public milestones, with warm banter and some of the most wonderful song interpretations (of "our" songs) I've heard. You haven't felt all the heart in "McArthur Park" before this, or the humor in "Rocky Raccoon;" a medley of pop songs with gibberish lyrics is a hoot; and her tributes to Martin Luther King, the AIDS pandemic, and the 9-11 tragedy are moving.
Oh, her pipes are still pretty good, too. Get there if you can!
