Maurice Hines to Direct 2004 Broadway Revival of The Me Nobody Knows - playbill.com

Anyone else excited about the Broadway revival of "The Me Nobody Knows"? This musical had a profound affect on me when I saw it on Broadway in the 70's at the age of 14. It would take over 20 years before a show would move me like that one did. "Fallsettos" and then "Rent" are my other favorites.
I have the songs from "Me Nobody Knows" running thru my head now!

The characters are between the ages of 7 and 18. The spoken text in the show was written by children attending New York City schools. The lyrics to some of the songs were actual poems the children wrote. The group, Fifth Demension, recorded one of the songs, "Light Sings" as a single. I remember hearing it on the radio in the 70's. One of my favorite songs from the show is "The Tree" sung by Jose Fernandez(whatever happened to him?). It is a beautifuly simple song about not giving up hope. All of the songs were wonderful.

i'll have to re-investigate "The Tree", it sounds kind of familiar. i have to say i have not been impressed seeing Hines as an actor lately. Perhaps he is a better director.
