Just love this cd and wondered if you had any other Yeston suggestions.

Although, I hate Alice Ripley's "Call From the Vatican." After Jane Krakowski's amazing version, this just sounds so lame.

Also, what's up with Eden Espinosa's song? She sounds awful on it!

Are you looking for song suggestions for yourself? it really isn't clear from your post. M/F? voice type. Eden is singing a Man's song on this disc but its pretty strong as far as i can tell. "Vatican" should have been stronger for Ripley but her first track on the album is stunning. I think there was limited preparation time. the Yeston catalogue is a bit limited but answer my questions and I'd be happy to rack my brain.

hm i have to disagree. i think eden sounds great on is someone out there without screaching or yelling. i also enjoy jane krakowski's rendition of vatican, however she doesn't hit the high C in guiIIIdo at the end, and alice does. just my 2 cents.

I HATE the Alice Ripley version of VATICAN. It sounds absolutely terrible.

I adore this CD though. The songs are all SO gorgeous and the lyrics are so beautiful and true.

The songs bug you because they're so melancholy? I ADORE Them because they're so melancholy. Maybe that's why I hate shows like TMM, THE PRODUCERS, etc. There's no substance in them. No, melancholic doesn't equal good, but usually there's a little more emotion and truth than other songs. That doesn't make sense...but I know what I'm trying to say, I just can't put it into words..haha.

Lauran Benanti's "Now and Then" breaks my heart. So gorgeous.

JBSinger- not looking for vocal repetoire, just wondering based on this cd, what are other shows/songs of his I might enjoy?

NINE, in my opinion, is his best score. It's absolutely BRILLIANT. You must get the revival CD if you do'nt already own it - it's literally AMAZING. I also love TITANIC, I think it's beautiful, but many people disagree. GRAND HOTEL is alright, but NINE and TITANIC are his best. PHANTOM is fierce, too.

Excellent- I have the NINE revival cd, which I bought before seeing it because I *heart* Laura Benanti and Jane Krakowski. I'm going to check out Titanic and Grand Hotel. Don't know them at all.
