What is he up to? I've seen him at lots of events and parties but is he doing a show anytime soon? I know he did "Baker's Wife" last year and he's doing the upcoming CUTZ and FLOPZ concert.
I think he's still doing the Kennedy Center's production of Mame this summer with Christine Baranski
Tonight, Sunday Feb. 26th, Max will be performing at Joe's Pub in the Flopz concert. I think he's singing "For Sarah" from DOTV.
Tomorrow night, he'll be doing a reading of G.B. Shaw's, "Fanny's First Play", at the Players Club.

I saw him in Umbrellas of Cherbourg last October in NJ. No nudity. He is quite short in person.
Max von Essen - what a hottie.
I always confuse him with Scott Nevins though..like at the BCEFA Flea Market - it took me a while to realize it was Scott lol.
*sigh* they're both talented cuties..
(end of my ramblings that did NOT help your post :) )

I love Max...But, I agree he is so short...I was surprised...And I could never confuse him with Scott Nevins...That man wears way too much makeup...It freaks me out a little everytime I see him.

do people think that the height question hurts Max in terms of getting roles? do producers and directors still prefer that leading men be taller than the leading ladies?

yes leading men are supposed to to taller than leading ladies. Of course there are plenty of tiny leading ladies to cast.
I don't thinkt he height SHOULD be an issue considering his voice is well enough. I guess there's just a certainw ay people view things.
(On a random note, Max and I share a birthday.)
I didn't think much of him until I saw him give the sexiest performance I've ever seen in "Baker's Wife".

I was wondering about Max's height when I was on my way to see him in BAKER'S WIFE this past summer, but he gives a taller impression when he's onstage. Great posture & confidence, I guess! As long as he doesn't have to stand next to a group of much taller actors onstage, he'll be fine.
I don't think he's that short--of course I'm 5'6"...
And I agree that he doesn't look anything like Miss Nevins. I'll leave it at that.
