I went to her show at Carnegie Hall and it was INCREDIBLE. I'm sure this one will be equally exquisite. She really knows how to make the most of a big band on a big stage (with that big voice!)

I didn’t want to start a new thread, but I wanted to share my thoughts after I saw Megan Hilty last night for her last of two performances with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic.

What a sublime night. This was my first time attending any Philharmonic Pops concert. I loved it. They started out with a medley of songs from Wicked before Megan came out. They did another set of songs from A Chorus Line plus Begin the Beguin. I was very impressed.

As impressive as the Philharmonic was, Hilty was just excellent. I had seen her hilarious performance in Noises Off, but this was my first time to see her sing live. Of course, she has well rehearsed chatter between songs, but it still came across as genuine. She sang three songs (Let Me Be Your Star, They Just Keep Moving The Line, Second Hand White Baby Grand) from Smash, two (Popular, For Good) from Wicked, a medley of three songs from Annie Get Your Gun, plus some standards and covers.

I was third row center orchestra, but was able to move up to front row center orchestra during intermission as there were empty seats. My favorite moments were her cover of Don Henley’s The Heart of the Matter and For Good, both of which moved me to tears.

At stage door, she said the creatives are still working on a musical version of Bombshell, but she said by time it is ready, she’ll probably be too old to play the role. Lol. Not sure if she was joking and if she meant too old to play Marilyn or Ivy Lynn (I don’t know if it would be strictly Bombshell or if it would be a show-within-a show).

Anyway, if she is coming to a city near you, I encourage you to attend. I don’t think you’ll regret if.

I also asked her if she misses New York (she and her husband and their two kids currently reside in LA) and she paused before saying she loves the weather in LA and it is more conducive to raising children. So I suspect that if she can find enough work to keep her on the West Coast, that’d be her preference unless some dream role on Broadway comes a calling. So your best bet to see her live over next few years will probably on tour.

Haha. Kat McPhee said the same thing about being too old to be in a Smash / Bombshell musical by the time it ever gets made, if it ever gets made! She said she'd have to play Karen Cartwright's mom! I saw Megan in London last year and she was fab. I'd like to see her back in a show sometime, if that's what she wants to do. Always thought shed be a great Miss Adelaide in Guys & Dolls
