Mel's "Debut"

When Egzacly is the "blessed" event anyway?

re: Mel's

Not too sure, but a good hint will be when you walk by any newspaper office in NYC and you can hear the critic inside sharpenning their knives.... or when you walk down Broadway and pass CJR and you san see her head rise from her body, rote 360 degrees and she begins to spew pea soup while chanting in latin.

OK, I found it. Internet Broadway Database has doomsday listed as July 11, with Armaggedon lasting through Sept 28.

Hoo hoo hoo!! HA HA HA!!

Didn't know CJR was a Linda Blair enthusiast! People should just not mess with her beloved "Chicago".

I personally think that CJR should be in charge of casting for this show from now on.

What do you all think?

re: re: Mel's

Any buzz from rehearsals on this one? Surely she must be doing serious work with the cast to get into any kind of potential shapre for this one?

From what I have heard, she started rehearsing in APIL for a JULY bow, and that they have dumbed down some of the choreography for her.

I hate it when they do that to cater to a "big name" There are plenty of big named stars that would be capable of doing it without needing to fudge it on down.

Scuttle butt I've heard is that she has a coach from the show for tutoring and that she is doing fine. Supposedly she really surprised the Weissman's at the audition. It would be interesting if she pulled it off. She and Antonio (and even her ex, Don Johnson) have a knack for cycling...being very hot, then being overexposed, then becoming joke figures, then resurfacing in pretty good projects. I do think Melanie is an okay actress if directed well. Not sure how much acting coaching goes on for the current version of CHICAGO, but again she could hire a personal one as she has with the dance coach. If the choreography is simplified (which I tend to doubt, it's not like Roxie has all that much to do physically until HOT HONEY RAG, at least technique-wise...I think GUN and the softshoe is fairly straightforward already) then seeing how and if anyone can tell what the changes were will be interesting. I'm for the "benefit of the doubt" because it keeps me from eating my hat too much.

I agree that CJR should be in charge of casting for that show from now on.

SCREW Mel...when does Mr. Barrett start?

Enough with the stunt casting....when does the star with TALENT come into CHICAGO (again)?

I bet that six months ago no one though they would hear this, but bring back the Backstreet Boy! He was good.

It could well be better than Mel...but actually as far as star-casting goes, I preferred Billy Zane to Kevin Richardson in the role. (Although I must admit that while Zane seemed to attract a decent number of fans at the stage door, it was nothing like the madness that commenced once Richardson started!)

And you're welcome, MasterLcZ!
