While reading an article about "IN MY LIFE" on Playbill I ran across this:

"Brooks composed and co-wrote the lyrics for Metropolis: The Musical, which was presented at London's Picadilly Theatre. The show has been seen regional theatres across America and is expected to have a New York premiere in spring 2006, directed by Richard Foreman."

Can this be true? Does anyone know anything about this? I would love to see METROPOLIS come to broadway or do you think it just means its coming to NY elsewhere? what about a Workshop?

WOW, METROPOLIS!! I haven't heard anyone talk about that show in a long time! Interesting show..to say the least.

But I won't live alone in a house of regret.

Hmmm...I am loving this if it is true!
I want Judy Kuhn to reprise her role, but know it'll go to a younger actress...hers is the perfect voice, tho....

thanks for the info, BNL!

I remember seeing advertisements for this show in my TheaterWeek magazines way back when....The artwork was similar to the silent movie's artwork and I was intrigued.

Intrigued, but in California.

I saw it in London and the set was pretty spectacular. Judy vocally was great but the songs ranged from lovely to down right weird. I have the double CD. It is definitely worth a listen.

I have the Double disc set! It is amazing and I wish that I could have seen it. I know a lot of regional theatres have done it, but I haven't been close enough to any of them to see a production.

I would love Judy to reprise her role but alas, politics politics politics!

Let's just hope this happens!

Big deal. A METROPOLIS revival was being bandied about as far back as 2002, following a successful community theatre production utilizing revisions by Joe Brooks and the director, Randy Bowser.

I know! That's why I am asking if anyone has heard of this or has any information about it!

"Big Deal"

Well, It would be a big deal to me and many others if this were to happen. I didn't know about the thought of trying to produce it in 2002. Thanks for the info!
