Metropolitan Opera House
#0Metropolitan Opera House
Posted: 3/20/04 at 6:38pmWell...I've been purchasing tickets all day for my upcoming trip to NYC (Ave Q, Boy From Oz, Mrs. Farnsworth...etc.), and I am wondering how my seats are for "Rigoletto" at the Metropolitan Opera House. Anyone been to the met before? I'm seated in the Rear Orchestra, Row EE 9-11. Anybody been around there? Thanks for your comments!

Did you check out the seating plan on the Met's website?

Your seats are under the overhang. It can become unbearably hot and stuffy in that location.
There ARE deadspots for sound at the Met--usually in the balcony section.

Posted: 3/21/04 at 8:20pmWhy should the new Met "hold a candle"? Mimi does that in LA BOHEME and takes care of things very nicely, thank you very much.

Posted: 3/21/04 at 8:24pmWhy, pray tell, should a physical theater hold a candle when electricity is so much safer?

It's not that bad an area....but I find the sound gets better the higher you go....to me it sounds dry in the orchestra..
My ideal: Dress Circle on the side...not too high...not to low...you can see the stage and the sound is warm and vibrant....

Posted: 3/23/04 at 10:24amI'm confused! Am I disrobing under the balcony or dressing in the circle?
