bump so my darling AG sees this... if he hasn't passed out already.
*BUMP*
Am I the only one who's hoping and praying that they'll use some of the original costumes in this production?? Do you know what that means Michael would be wearing?? Oh my..I have to sit down and process that for a minute.
hehehehe...

Help a girl out here! What exactly would Michael be wearing?
Inquiring minds want to know.
WHY CAN'T I SEE ANYTHING GOOD EVER?!
Well, in the original "Pippin", the character wore black pants that were tight and short...and a mesh/rope sleeveless shirt...which is removed several times during the show...
*THUD*
(I just fainted at the thought)

Hmm, makes me drift back to a certain "lemon" costume from Taboo for some reason.
Can't wait to see Pippin!
LEMON COSTUME! AH!
Michael Arden, you purdy thang.
he sure is
unfortunately
no costunes will be used
Damn
Who says no costumes will be used?
Maybe the entire cast will wear kilts like the fabulous producer.

I cant wait! He will be amazing. I hope he wears the original costume too. :)
Anyone know who will be Catherine? I am thinking Page Davis, she has performed the role before... not sure if she is good though...
Laura Benanti is Catherine

Oh thanks... I never heard of her, is she any good?

She has a beautiful voice. She was in the rivival of Into the Woods, Nine, and she just recently was in the Actor's Fund concert of Hair.

Laura Benanti is very good. She will be an amazing Catherine
Benanti is one of the top young performers on Broadway. Basically, you take Rebecca Luker, subtract a number of years and a bit of Rebecca's polished vocal refinement, and add vocal personality and some stage presence, and you've got Laura. She took over for Luker in Sound of Music at the age of 19, then was cast as Cinderella in ITW, Eileen in the Wonderful Town ENCORES concert, and Claudia in the NINE revival (a role which was later filled in by Rebecca Luker). Laura's damn good, basically what I'm trying to say.
Since you seem to be a Sutton fan, here's a quote from ms. Foster, "I did get to see a tour of Into the Woods when I was a kid in Detroit and it became my absolute favorite. I listened to the CD endlessly, and I’m sure I drove everyone crazy. I always visualized myself in the role of Cinderella, but after hearing Laura Benanti sing it…forget it! She freaks me out, she’s so good."

Luara Benanti IS quite talented, but she comes off as cold and icey in EVERY role she plays. I was hoping that the Nazis would find Maria and the Giantess would step on Cinderella.
sounds like more of a personal allegiance to me. Laura's not going to be cast in any purely acting roles anytime soon, but I thought her Maria was much more interesting and relatable than the bland offering by Rebecca. Luker's got one of the best soprano voices but it's felt like she's been on autopilot since Showboat. Laura at least sounds like she's got some emotion.

Oh, nothing personal. I have encountered laura before and she was very nice. On stage though, she just seems to come off as stiff and icey. Yes, she emotes well, but I always see a chilly, stiff layer to it.
maybe it's a soprano thing. I know what you mean though. I should say to her credit that John Simon gave her performance in Wonderful Town rave reviews, said her talent was more than enough to make up for "not being the looker Eileen is supposed to be". Lovely man.

No.. not a asoprano thing. Jessica Grove has a BEAUTIFUl soprano and she comes off as very youthful and likeable. Laura seems so stiff and chilly.. she is teh only 25 year old that I know who ONLY gets stuck in roles normally played by woman in their 30s and 40s.
as far as THAT review, it was uncalled for in my opinion.
