Kangaroo...he's a really nice, down-to-earth guy when you talk to him at the stage door...and VERY funny. He's extremely accomodating about photos and signatures. I've never heard him turn anyone down. He's actually been known to apologize to fans for being late arriving at the stage door when he has to go in quickly (and he still stops if anyone asks him to).
Sure, it's his job in some respects, but I think anyone who's met him (and several of us who have posted on this topic have) will agree he does go out of his way most of the time.

I think if I was going to make a list of the best
male musical theatre voices Michael Ball would be up there with
Brian Stokes Mitchell, Rob Evan, Douglas Sills, Michael McCarthy, Anthony Warlow, and Hugh Panaro. A small, but great, and exclusive list. I may have left out a couple of current gentlemen. Sorry if I did

He's very approachable and easy to "meet" in that scenario if you want to say hello to him. He seems to genuinely enjoy meeting people and if he recognizes a face he goes out of his way to say "hi" if he can. Beyond that I can only say that he seems to be very "real" and I think sincerely appreciative of the support he gets.

I can't believe I have been a Michael Ball fan for almost 17 years now, having heard his golden voice for the first time singing THE RED AND THE BLACK in the London OCR of LES MISERABLES. Unforgettable moment, vibrato and all!
I guess I must have one of the most complete ( probably 99.9%
) collections of all the songs Michael Ball has ever recorded and released. Perhaps unlike most of his fans, I have a strong sentimental attachment to the voice of the young Michael Ball - full, velvety, somewhat untrained, but already rich in the ability to act out the song's message. His singing will never leave you unmoved whether it is musical theatre fare or a pop song, or even the dabbling in light opera ( he has done some duets with soprano Lesley Garrett).
He is not only very charming but also has a terrific sense of humour. I enjoy listening to him on interviews, as he makes a very good raconteur, flashes of wit and humour richly interspersed in his comments...And he also comes out well when he is a hosting a show. His BBC radio series called BALL OVER BROADWAY ( third time in 2004) features interviews with cast, creative teams and critics of current Broadway shows. He never upstages anyone of the people he talks to, even if he himself is a big musical theatre star at the West End and has toplined an ALWebber show on Broadway.
He is also a very friendly soul. I have had a chance to meet him a number of times since I first met him in London for ASPECTS OF LOVE. When I came over to see the same show on Broadway, guess who invited me to see the first Broadway theatre dressing room I have ever been or will ever be to???

Wow Jo. That is so amazing that Michael has such devoted fans like you. You're stories are great!
and Lori... I twinge with jealously every time I see your picture. I love it. And I hope that I get to see him in the near future.
