Michael Crawford or Colm Wilkinson or just someone else!

Which would you perfer?
For me: HUGH PANARO! O GOD, I just love this guy as the Phantom! He is the best Phantom I've ever seen/ heard. I saw him on Broadway 3 times!
Michael Heath wasn't bad too.
Michael Crawford's voice was just too...I don't know how to explain it...wierd (cannot find the word to describe it)
Colm Wilkinson's voice sounded to old. (sounded like an old man)...But his role as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables was perfect.
Back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky. With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high! Blood-red were the spurs i' the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat, when they shot him down on the highway, down like a dog on the highway, and he lay in his blood on the highway, with the bunch of lace at his throat... I could easily see Bob Cuccioli & his pipes in the role

Wonder what has happened to him. A movie website listing under trivia for POTO says it originally was to be filmed with Crawford & Brightman but it fell through when ALW divorced her

I cannot imagine Michael Crawford playing the Phantom on screen...I think he's too old. Even if the movie was made in the early 1990s.

As much as I like Colm Wilkinson, I don't care so much for his Phantom. He had this weird, affected accent that I didn't care for on his Phantom recording. I would have loved for Hugh Jackman to be cast in the movie. I think he would also be a wonderful Joe is Sunset Boulevard ever gets filmed.

Hugh Panaro!!! Absolutely amazing as the Phantom. His expressions and singing blow me away everytime I see him. Plus he's such a sweetheart at the stagedoor :)

Hugh was the only Phantom I saw, but I was blown away.

ChrisLoves - I was thinking the same thing about Hugh Jackman.

Seriously, anyone BUT them. They never do it for me. CW is an amazing Valjean, but he doesn't work as the PHANTOM. MC just irritates me - I can't listen to him sig.

Definitely would have loved to see Hugh Jackman as the phantom in the movie.
