The finest theater critic in New York just posted on his Facebook that he may need a new job soon. His eloquent and smart reviews are just about the only reason I read the Village Voice.
Oh, New York Times...reason #15,097,965 why you should get rid of Brantley. Feingold's available!
From his Facebook:
Dear darling friends for whose love and support I am deeply grateful: Please note the use of the conditional tense in my previous status update. I have not lost nor left my job. I have not been laid off; I have simply been warned - by people in a position to know - that that possibility may be imminent. I am simply using the time before it happens to try and sort out what might come next. I feel more secure about the prospect thanks to all of you & your enthusiasm - bless you for it. But please reserve your sympathy for Will Bourne and Jessica Lustig, the two VV editors who have actually lost their jobs - they resigned rather than agreeing to fire five people from an editorial staff already stretched to its limit.

I'm surprised the Village Voice is still in print. It hasn't been an interesting paper since the 1990s.

Ugh, just ugh.
They've also stopped printing Savage Love. Should have known something was afoot.
Oh, hell no! Feingold is the best theater critic in New York and the best writer the Voice has by far.
If they're getting rid of Musto and Michael Feingold, they might as well just get rid of the Village Voice itself.
