As many of you know, she is the new Tracy Turnblad standby in Hairspray.

I did a search, but I came up with nothing. Does anyone know anything about this Broadway newbie?

nothing except what she looks like and whats in her bio on the hairspray website.

I'd also like to know more about her, though!

Michelle is one of my best friends. She just graduated from high school from me. She was planning on going to college in PA, however, since she got the role on Broadway her plans were postponed. We're both up here in NYC now, I'm at NYU and she's on Broadway.

do let us know when she'll be going on then! If you find out ahead of time from her, i'd love to be able to catch her in the role. She must be freaking amazing if she got this right outta highschool!

Well, as you know LittleWing, I have some miniscule pull at Hairspray. She's supposedly going on soon while Shannon takes a personal day or two. If I hear specific dates, I'll let you know.

I just saw her Friday night. She was great. Wonderful voice and good comic timing. Didn't seem to be quite as much of a dancer, but it didn't detract from her performance overall. She also seems to have or sort of edgier (or something) look to her that I thought worked really well for Tracy. Shannon (who is also very good) seems really cute and sweet as Tracy, whereas Michelle plays it a little tougher.

She went on last Thursday and Friday. About the dancing comment: She's taken dancing lessons for 10 years I've always thought she was a fabulous dancer. You do have to remember that she's straight out of high school and this was her first time ever performing on Broadway. I think she rocked the hell out of it.
