Saycon was very good as Aida.
I used to always laugh at the commerical for Aida: "...starring THE LEGEND, Toni Braxton." Legend? really?
hahaha, I was going to "impersonate" that next.
"You *points at Adam* forget that I *points at self* am her *points off-stage, at Amneris* property now *stamps foot!*"
I think I like the Toni one better; it ends with a wail.

Heather was definitely Magic!
I also liked Simone
No one will ever touch Heather. She was miles above everyone else. After Heather, my other favorites were Maya Days, Deborah Cox, and Merle Dandridge. Simone had an incredible voice, but her acting was only marginally better than Braxton's.

how was schele i've always wondered
Very mediocre. She never did anything with the music at all. There was nothing exciting about her performance. She wasn't good enough to play the role full time. A decent standby, but nothing more.
I loved Schele; her "Nubia" remains one of my all-time favorite renditions of the song. I always thought she was a very dependable standby/understudy.

I love Simone and Saycon.
I've seen 3 Aidas (4 if you count a regional production) and Deborah Cox was BY FAR the best. She was gorgeous, she sounded gorgeous and was amazing in the dramatic scenes. She also blew the roof off with The Dance of the Robe.
The other 2 Aidas I saw were Maya Days and Paulette Ivory. Days seemed to phone in the entire performance and Ivory, while very intense, seemed to stay on one level throughout the show.
I got to see Heather Headley and Deborah Cox and both women were WONDERFUL in the role. Yes, Headley was better but she wasn't stunt-cast into the role the wax Cox was. It was one of the BEST stunt-casting situations that ever happened on Broadway (along with Reba in Annie Get Your Gun)
