Good point. The Leading Player is supposed to be seductive, if he intends to have Pippin kill himself. Pippin is also obviously heterosexual, so it will be difficult to have a female Leading Player without a sexual chemistry between the two. To me that ends the show before it begins.

Can Paulus just leave the theater? I mean, not bloody likely, but I'm just waiting for her to claim she has a direct pipeline to Bob Fosse and what he would have done with PIPPIN in the 21st century, just like she did with her last "show." She's one of those pretentious, over-analytical directors looking to do something important, and PIPPIN is entertaining and great fun, but I'd hardly call it "important", whatever that means. I hope she keeps that in mind, but again, not bloody likely.

"I'm thinking Stritch quietly retired after her Disneyland concerts."

Maybe she'll perform AT Disneyland next with the Dapper Dans backing her up, and then quietly retire. Love her, but she should stick to being an advocate for theater, and not performing anymore.

I thought American Idiot was Rent with a more punk-oriented score and 19 Rogers onstage.
