Millie Journal

Hi all!

First off, I want to thank everyone out there who has been reading and enjoying my journal. I am glad that I can share my experience with you, and I love receiving my daily emails from readers, esp. the young hopefuls! *smile*

It was called to my attention that there has been some negativity and controversy on this message board regarding my journal, so I decided to post myself (in hopes of helping clear things up)!

I'm sorry to know that some find that my journal lacks interest. I only write what I experience, and I'm not about to create drama or gossip for the pleasure of people who enjoy stirring up trouble. I, of course, am not happy ALL of the time (who is?), yet I tend to always have a positive outlook on life (yes, I've been compared to Pollyanna...) and I refuse to post anything which could cause ill feelings among my castmates. Their privacy comes first; I cannot disclose anything "juicy," nor do I want to. I'm sorry if this leaves some of you uninterested. You don't HAVE to continue to read!

As for my spelling and grammatical errors... I usually find myself typing entries at 2 am (it's 1:42 am right now), after performing a show (or TWO!!!), rehearsing and responding to my personal mail (its hard keeping in touch with loved ones)! I realise entries are extremely flawed, but I'm not attempting to publish a book~ merely write for those who like to read! :) Thank you, Namo, for pointing out my misspelling of BradlEy's name. I only wish you'd done it sooner, as Bradley and I realised my error last week (and laughed about it!), and the updated entries will be correct.

For those of you who are supportive of my journal, thank you SO MUCH! I am sorry you had to read the above 2 paragraphs, and all of the preceding drama (in posts made earlier today). I look forward to meeting you all when Millie comes to a city near you! (I've already enjoyed meeting some of you... Lizzy, Jenna and Jennifer)Please come say hi at the stage door!

Just wanted to wish you welcome to the board. I'm sorry you had to read the thread about your journal entries. I'll never understand why people have read posts they are not interested in and make rude comments about them.

It was an easy guess that you have to write on the fly, so to speak. Even sitting here with my computer and spell check spelling/grammer escapes me from time to time. Big deal. It nice that you even bothered to take the time to write.

As far as the spelling of your friends name, I have a very different spelling of both my first and last name and have very few friends who spell spell it correctly. Again, big deal. As long as they start with a "D" sound, I take it they are addressing me. Heck, I even answer to "Hey, you!"

Do not worry about these boards and what people think/post. Just enjoy yourself and have a good show.

I "thoroughly enjoy your journal" as well as most of us here. It was a wonderful idea and I know it's given me a lot of information personally (the very 1st entry especially). You seem like a very well-rounded person and please don't listen to any neg. things you hear on a message board. You are talented and sweet...just do what you have to do with your journal and we will all keep reading.

Juliana, you're giving people more credit than we deserve. You're a talented and interesting person, living your dream, working hard and trying to share a touch of it with others.

These people are in front of their computers, alone.

Between playing in theater and comic books and science fiction I don't have much tolerance for the obsessive psycho internet fanboys who have nothing better to do than insult the people who work in the industry they claim to love. Sometimes it spills onto others.

No offense to those who actually do have perspective on things.

Plenty of offense do those who do not.

It's not about disagreeing. I'm all for disagreeing sensibly. I thought the thread with MusicMan and BroadwayBulldog was a lot of fun, people talking about theater who don't agree and, hopefully, seeing what other people think. Why we're here, after all.

It's got nothing to do with Juliana, other than she's microcosmic of the bigger picture. It's about respecting the people and the art form. It's about people being accountable for what they say and, more importantly, for thinking before they speak and doing more than just trying to get off on saying something catty in public.

Comics, sci-fi and theater all have the same problems with their internet fans: the industries are small and the audiences have an unimaginable amount of contact with the people who work in the industry. But rather than celebrate that and use that to really start conversations and become aware of the process and the people, the 'net folks use it as a way to spread petty gossip, nitpick people personally and professionally, to burden pros with the weight of unreasonable fandom and half-truths and to otherwise behave anything but respectfully of the people and the art forms they claim to love, because really they just want to watch leacherously and vicariously so they can be a false 'insider' or so they can say irresponsible and rude things about people behind, hiding behind their computer screens and fake names.

'Fanboy' is just the word used in comic circles to describe freaky fans.

It's not about everyone having to be shiny and happy and agree on everything. But it's about creating an environment to have a real discussion where you know everyone's on the same level and being honest.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. Point taken. I would love to respond more, but I do have a life and am running late. Don’t hate the one’s with opinions, talent or lives. Have a good day.

I enjoy your journal, I think it's a really great idea. Just a suggestion: give more details about your tour- and show-related experiences, rather than what you ate and stuff. It would make it a little more interesting -- food is a really sensitive subject, especially with theatre people! But as far as the critics go, people will find stuff to criticize you about no matter what you do. That's just the nature of the business. Don't let that cynicalize you (yes, I just made that word up!), you seem to be a rare breed of unjaded and uncynical young actress! Stay innocent as long as you can.

I especially enjoyed the entry about the conversation with Pam. That was informative and, I must admit, comforting to hear that even SHE gets vocally tired!

Keep it going, girl, don't stress about the bitter, mean-spirited people who need to bring you down to make themselves feel better.

PS: I admit that I was tempted to say something snotty myself, but after reading other people's posts I realized what a jerk I was for having that attitude. I guess I am so jaded that I didn't believe someone could be as genuinely sweet and positive as you...and I was a little bit jealous of you, of course. But we all have to follow our own path, and it doesn't mean that mine won't lead me to success just as effectively as yours has. Good luck to both of us, may our paths intersect!

I disagree. Innocence can apply to many different areas. For example, once I was innocent to the evils of the cabaret world. Not anymore. But although I have heard of the evils of Hollywood, I would take a job there despite the rumours, and I would be innocent until and unless I allowed myself to become jaded by said evils.

Juliana maintains her innocence despite attempts by certain people (no fingers being pointed here) to knock her off her perch of idealism.

It's all subject to interpretation, however...innocent has many shades of meaning:

Uncorrupted by evil, malice, or wrongdoing; sinless: an innocent child.

Not guilty of a specific crime or offense; legally blameless: was innocent of all charges.
Within, allowed by, or sanctioned by the law; lawful.

Not dangerous or harmful; innocuous: an innocent prank.
Candid; straightforward: a child's innocent stare.

Not experienced or worldly; naive.
Betraying or suggesting no deception or guile; artless.

Not exposed to or familiar with something specified; ignorant: American tourists wholly innocent of French.
Unaware: She remained innocent of the complications she had caused.
Lacking, deprived, or devoid of something: a novel innocent of literary merit.

It's really great to hear from you. I love your journal so keep up the great work. I just can't wait to read if you ever do cover for Millie.

FYI--the people saying, "Bless Your Heart" do not mean that in a nice way. That's a snide comment that someone came up with on the old board. Ask one of them to explain the meaning to you, I won't repeat it. I doubt they will either. Bless THEIR hearts.

Dof, you were annoying as hell "there" and more so "here"! Why would you feel compelled to say that? I think your soapbox is getting a bit rickety. I won't "cry for 3 days" because you just posted that but it does make it painfully clear that you're a childish little instigator. Insert any other word in the place of "childish".

Hummm, I’m the mean one? Hiding a mean remark in the form of saying something nice isn’t mean? And since I know what it means, I thought to give you the chance to explain it so you couldn’t say I got it wrong. What’s mean about that?

If being “banned” from the high road means your secret board, somebody catch me, I think I feel faint. After the TONS of PM’s I sent you Namo, BEGGING to be allowed on it! NOT!! Sigh. I can’t be missing much since your always here now. You never would post when Broadway.com was up and running , despite my telling you you’d be surprised at how welcome you would be.

Mean, childish and an instigator, huh? Yea, guess you could say that makes me a real nasty person but to you or this board I can’t say.
