could anyone give me recommendations about what shows are open on monday nights and what would be the best show to see - on or off broadway?

Try this area of the site and put in the Monday you are looking for. Everything that is playing on that date, On and Off Broadway should show up.

If you try the What's Happening link for say this coming Monday you will see that the following shows are plying On Broadway:

Chicago - 8:00 PM
Jersey Boys - 8:00 PM
Rent - 8:00 PM
Sweeney Todd - 8:00 PM
The Phantom of the Opera - 8:00 PM

And the following shows are playing Off-Broadway:

excellent. thank you , but what would be the best deal (discount-wise and tkts wise) because I am a poor college student already spending money on transportation

I'm not sure about prices, but I think Avenue Q plays on Mondays and that is definitely worth seeing! Best of Luck!

Avenue Q does not play on Mondays.

Out of the Broadway shows playing Monday nights..

Chicago and Sweet Charity have great Rush Offers.

Chicago 26 dollars - GENERAL Rush - 2 tickets per person.

Sweet Charity - 26 dollars - STUDENT Rush- - 2 tickets per ID.

The Charity Box Office is very TOUGH with their Rush policies opposed to the Chicago Box Office who are fairly easy going with the offer.
