OK. Even though everyone knows I am no fan of "Lestat", I thought I would let those who may be interested that Elton John will be singing songs from "Lestat" tomorrow on "Today".

He was just on and sang "Right Before my Eyes"

Oh and I'm pretty sure Matt Lauer mocked him...well, I like to think he did...

He said something along the lines of "So, its oepning night tonight will you be in the audience?"
"Yes"
"Well how will it be to finally see the show in a full house?"

I like when Elton attributed the bad reviews to critics wanting to "knock him down a peg" because he's so successful.

Here is the video for those who missed it. The video starts off with "Your Song". He also sings "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues" at the end.

"Right Before My Eyes" was not in the San Francisco version so this was the first time I heard it. It sounds more like an Elton John song from his hit song days than any of the others in the score and I don't think it's all that bad. Too bad the rest of the score is mostly dull.

i think the song was cool on the today show but i think that the cast of the show should have been there and sung a song form the show.

I saw Elton sing it too, and liked it. But let me tell you, it's not even close to hearing Hugh Panaro sing this song. It is simply gorgeous sung by Mr. Panaro. The music has really changed so much from San Francisco. Many of the old songs like "Embrace It" and "Sail Me Away" are remarkably stronger and more captivating then they were before. I think that anyone who saw it in SF and thought the music was "bland" would be very surprised by how much more powerful it is in this show now.
