I've always felt that David and Jenny are the most real. The others are more cartoony (stereotypical?)..... How does everyone feel about the three lovers, Marta, Kathy, and April? Which is most believable? Regardless, I'm fond of all the characters in Company. Great show.
David and Jenny for me, too. I think it's just that their issues seem more relatable and, as the last poster said, they don't strike me as being charicatures the way some of the others do.
Hehe. I played David so I'm biased but I also say David and Jenny.

Harry and Sarah are a mellowed-down version of my sister and her fiance. It's kind of weird.

I think it depends on the production. When I saw it in London, I felt the couples were portrayed more like real people than any other production I've ever seen. Many productions try to use the Brechtian device of making all the couples the same.
I think all the couples are meant to be showing their own marital flaws, while trying to show Bobby the joys of marraige.
I think Harry and Sarah are the most real in terms of what long-lasting relationships look like, but Paul and Amy are the reality of most relationships.
Speaking of Paul and Amy, i'm currently playing Paul and actually have a problem with how neatly their almost breakup is fixed.
