A lot of people here reference how many times they've seen a show. Well, what is the most times you've seen a show, and why did you spend so much money on that one show?
I have seen Mamma Mia over 6,000 times

Um, I've seen Les Mis over a hundred times so far! But I know folks who've seen the show 500 times plus.
Why? Well cos I love the show! Its live and therefore often never quite the same twice and with different casts adding new facets to a character. I love the music too. And there are characters within the show with whom I can identify, notably Eponine. Plus my favourite character and my favourite show tune is Javert and 'Stars'. I just adore listening to that sung with power (cue Michael McCarthy).
If I wasn't still in some way into the show or moved by it, then I wouldn't want to go and see it as often. In fact over the last couple of years I have seen the show less per year than previously just to ensure that I never get fed up with the show. So each time I visit the show I really enjoy the occasion
I have seen other shows several times, but 'only' in the 10s or 20s!!!
I'm way behind most people...the most I've seen Les Mis was 30. I tend to see every show at least twice (but more like 4 or 5) unless I absolutely hate it more than anything, or it closes before I get to go back.

I've seen Fame about six times, but I'm not mad enough to pay for tickets (who actually pays to see Fame these days?!). And the other was Witches of Eastwick which I saw five times - it was theatrical heaven.
I like to browse. :) I've seen phantom 4 times tho and AIDA twice...i really need a higher-paying job...
I saw ROCKY HORROR 69 times. I was at every one of the last 31 performances and saw it whenever I could in the year before. I loved every minute of it.
I've seen Les Miserables 11 times, in the US and in London. I enjoy seeing different actors in the roles, and there's a lot to watch in LM.
I think the next most times I have seen something would be La Boheme, at 5. But being on the West Coast, it's a bit hard to just nip down to TKTS and see a show repeatedly.
Oh, all my 30 Les Mis times were on Broadway, actually all my viewings are on Broadway. I've seen Avenue Q 14 times, Taboo 8, Chicago 8, Urinetown 8...those are my top viewing numbers

I would go to Broadway every week, hell, DAY and see a show. But sadly, do to cash constrants, the most I had ever seen a Broadway show (not counting tours) would be twice:
Kiss Me, Kate
Urinetown
Wicked
Avenue Q
For every time you saw Les Mis/Rocky Horror/Hairspray/etc., you could have seen another show On/Off/Off-Off Broadway...

I see a huge majority of Broadway/Off-Broadway so I dont really mind multiple visits to any show if I enjoy them
I saw Witches of Eastwick about 30 times before it closed in London...why? Because my best friend was in it and because it was absolutely amazing

Yeah, for those of you in the NY area. And who cares if someone likes something enough to see it repeatedly? That's not to say people don't watch other things.
Well, I do live in the New York area and seeing shows multiple times doesn't mean I don't see other shows because of it. Of the musicals that are open right now the only ones I haven't seen are Bombay Dreams, Aida, and The Lion King. The first two of which I plan on seeing probably within the next month or so, but if I wake up in, for an example, an Avenue Q mood...that's where I'm going to go.
Sumofallthings,
What do you care what I go to see? For your information, I go see most Off Broadway stuff and pretty much everything else on Broadway. But I really enjoyed going to see ROCKY HORROR. I loved getting to know the cast and meeting the people that like me, had a great time there.
i saw Les Miserables 3 times (in SF)...
Victor/Victoria twice (1 Julie Andrews, 1 Liza Minelli)
Ragtime twice
Take Me Out twice
Cabaret twice (1 Natasha Richardson, 1 Brooke Sheilds)
Mamma Mia - so far 10 times (1 time in NY, 9 times in Toronto).
Les Miserables - 14 times
Witches of Eastwick - 10 times and I would have more if I could've afforded it!
Ragtime (London) - 6 times
Taboo (London + UK tour) - 5 times
on the other side of this discussion, there are people who see shows repeatedly for whatever their reasons... If i had to pick one show to see repeatedly, it would be Ragtime... Updated On: 5/20/04 at 08:53 AM
Wicked - 20
RENT - 14
I never understand how people can afford to go to see the same shows repeatedly...but I guess its a personal choice. I like to keep the memory of the first and (usually) only time I see a show as a keepsake in my mind and heart. The only shows I've seen more than once have been Man of La Mancha (because I study it every chance I get, seeing as how it seems to be the role I'll play for the rest of my life - Cervantes), Kiss Me Kate (because of friends appearing in it, so I went to support them)..and I think there might be one more but I can't remember it at the moment...oh yeah - Beauty and the Beast - also because the second time was to support a friend who understudied the Beast and I wanted to see his performance. Beyond that, I usually can find no reason to spend another $50 or more dollars to see something a second time.
