Hey all! I know this show has only been out for a month or so, but I'm going to see it next month and was wondering if anyone knew anything about the cast coming out to sign/take pictures.
Also, this will be my first time in New York and I need help locating this stage door as well as the Majestic Theatre's, because I know some can be tricky to find.
Thanks in advance!
Not sure about the Motown cast or the Majestic stagedoor, but the stagedoor at the Lunt is right in the front of the outside of the theatre, so you'll have no trouble finding it at all!
Many of the cast members signed at the stage door when I was there, in spite of the fact that there were no guard rails. Hopefully they added them though, because it was pure chaos and I kept getting squished by people. My favorite was a lady who demanded a picture with an actor, and then turned around and said, "Now who was you?" First, her grammar killed me. Second, the fact that she was so disrespectful irritated the heck out of me. However, I was super impressed with the performer's graciousness in the face of her rudeness.

That's great! :) I'd like to get photos with the two younger boys that play Michael Jackson, but I'm not sure if younger actors in shows do the stage door thing. When should I leave the theatre if I want to get a good spot? My seats are in the rear mezzanine upstairs. I splurged on front row seats for Phantom so I chose cheaper seats for this.
And thank you, smallworld!
The Majestic theatre stage door is tricky. It's not on 44th Street near the entrance to the theatre. You have to go around the block to 45th Street. Right before you get to the Golden Theatre you will see an alley way. Go down the alley and turn left, go all the way to the end and on the right you will find the stage door for the Majestic. There are also 2 other stage doors in that alley. I think I've been able to make it all the way to the stage door without anyone stopping me. Sometimes (if there is a big star in one of the theatres they block it off and you can't go down. In that case, you just wait on the street.

They've installed barricades at the Lunt stage door, many of the cast stop and sign autographs and take pictures. As for BOTH kids, they cover each others track and generally one only stays at the theater until the last scene of the other. To be honest, I can't remember if the kid is in the last part of the show, only the bows. So the one who was not on for that performance MAY be long gone by the end of the show.
As for getting a good place in line, post show, I can't really endorse leaving early to get down there. It's what I call a "walking ovation" and I've always considered it kind of rude but, FWIW, you're a long way from the stage door.
