Honestly, no. Getting cast in a show on Broadway and having a steady job is a major accomplishment in itself. To me, the question is the same as asking whether people working in industry should change companies because they have been there for an extended period of time.
It is an interesting thought, though. I'm sure people will have comments.

Posted: 2/18/06 at 7:09pmI agree that it is a major accomplishment to be cast in a Broadway show. But, I wonder if staying in one show for a really long time could hinder the performer's career. While the performer may be employed for a while, what happens if/when the show closes and the performer must seek more work? Other performers will have been raking in the notches on their resume. I think it might be difficult to jump back in the game and compete with someone who has several broadway shows under their belt. Also, if that performer becomes well known in that role, it might be difficult for people to accept them in another role. It's just a thought. Great thread, I have often thought about that a lot.

Absolutely not. And frankly, who are we to say?
Even if an actor's performance is "bad," that is between them and the producers of the show.
Period.

Posted: 2/18/06 at 11:33pmThe late great Jerry Orbach said "Never leave a hit show!" He was in the original CHICAGO from opening to closing and sustained long runs in PROMISES and 42nd STREET. And was on TV's LAW AND ORDER for more than a decade. If you can deliver the goods like this solid pro always did,you should be able to stay with a show as long as you want. It also obviously never hurt his career.
