I went to see the 7PM performance of the Movin' Out tour here in Birmingham, AL. It was the last performance of the show on tour and basically in the U.S. You could fee the energy from the audience, and from the row of U/S and Standbys sitting behind and around me. It was really cool. Basically most of you have seen the show, so I don't have to say anything about it. It was great. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about no spoken dialogue and whatnot, but I was mesmerized. By the Act 1 curtain I was hooked. I had tears in my eyes and the Army sequence was so powerful. I have to mention Brendan King and Holly Cruikshank, they were standouts. Obviously their roles are the biggest, but they do some crazy things on stage with their bodies. Everyone was great though. At the end, they had the LONGEST curtain call I've ever witnessed. The entire cast came out onstage - accompanied by their u/s and standbys who had made their way backstage during the Finale. They all took one big company bow and then danced around on stage taking pictures and whatnot. It was really cool to see from an up-and-coming actor. They seemed like they really enjoyed each other. One note though, It seems to me that Mr. King didn't get much love from the cast, I just found that odd. Maybe he just isn't a social person? Anyways, I'm glad I saw the show. It was electric and I think most people were captivated by the end.

Any idea when the show is airing on PBS?

I don't think it's been taped yet.

The tour is apparently closing early (though there are still dates announced on BroadwayaccrossAmerica.com)) so I suppose they will either have to re-assemble the show for video recording or maybe the show won't be taped afterall.

It wouldn't be the first musical announced for PBS that didn't go through. THE SECRET GARDEN was supposed to be taped but it never happened.

Anyway - great review. I love the show and I'm sure tonight was really special.

Just the vibe I got. I could be totally wrong, just something me and my friends noticed. That's not the say he's not talented as hell. The man is amazing, but he just seemd out of place at the end.

And MB, It was really cool. I can see why it had a healthy run on Broadway.

Oh My God! Tell me this is not real. Tell me this is not real. I hope I had never known about such thing.

Why's it closing earlier than expected? It seems like last night the audience loved it and it was decently sold.

I'm not sure why it's closing, but I think Troika is producing a non-equity "Movin' Out". I saw a casting call for it a while ago, I'll try and find it.

Hm. I wonder how the non-Equity will be. The set isn't all that massive, but I wonder if they'll be enough non-equity talent to pull it off.
