hi all,

im from the uk and i wanted to know if any1 has seen Movin' Out because im going to to sing the song "just the way you are"
and i wanted to know...WHERE the man sings it, Why the man sings it, Who the the man is singing it to and any other info you can please give me!

Hi Ben,
I have seen Movin' Out a few times. I'm a HUGE fan. Its a great show. Its all about Billy Joel's music and conceived by Twyla Tharp. The man in the show who sings the songs is Michael Cavanaugh with the band above the stage. They are great and wonderful people.

I think he wanted to know how the song fits into the story. I saw the out-of-town tryout in Chicago. It was a while ago, so I don't remember what was happening during that song.

Hello, this is part of the third scene, and is preceded by Reverie (as part of the same scene). Judy and James, high school sweethearts who are very much in love have just gotten engaged and are expressing their love to each other during this dance. The actors/actresses (dancers) don't sing in this. The entire show is sung by pianist/vocalist Micheal Cavanaugh. He and the band are on a platform above the dancers. They act it out through dance as he sings. Hope this is a better answer.... Updated On: 2/7/04 at 01:19 PM

is the whole show about him singing all the time and them acting each song out thought dance?

yes. the band does all the music. the songs are arranged in order to tell the story, which the dancers act out.
