I'm at work so I can't watch those clips, however on the Ovation TV Network they aired a Hal Prince documentary so this may be what that was. Go to the Ovation TV website and see if it's on there.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Ovation TV airs EXCELLENT arts documentaries. My favorite of which so far was one about the senior dance class of Julliard and how they break into the professional world.

I would LOVE to own many of their shows on DVD. Perhaps we should e-mail the network and find out if they ever receive distribution?
