Does she love him? lust for him? There wasn't much sexual chemistry between Lansbury and Cariou--but Depp and BCarter might have that going for them as well. Thoughts?

She loves him, always has. He rarely even acknowledges that she's in the room. The film really brings out that dynamic and tension in their relationship.

Yeah - I gathered that she always loved him - even when he was married, and now she's taking advantage of the situation. Note the line when Sweeney finds out she lied to him about Lucy "I'll be twice the wife she was"

He has no romantic feelings towards her at all.

Agreed wholeheartedly! I'm really enjoying the subtleties of the film vs. the stage show. Not that things like that weren't seen onstage, but the film really fine tunes it all.
