Posted: 4/10/05 at 5:40pmOh please, that's totally different. The amount of movies that come out each year are far greater in quantity than the amount of theatre. So just by that, it's easier to win a Tony than an Oscar.

I'll piss my pants if Applegate wins.
It's between Clark, Foster, and Scott at this point.

Posted: 4/10/05 at 5:45pmAre the parts in Spelling Bee all considered feature? I haven't seen the show yet.

Posted: 4/10/05 at 5:47pmI haven't seen it either, but I've been told they're all featured.

I hate doing this, I really do but...
Assuming that Clark, Foster, Applegate, and Scott are nomintaed for Leading actress who do you predict will be #5?

Posted: 4/10/05 at 5:57pmI have no idea or preference. DOES THERE HAVE TO BE 5!!! Hahaha...well, Kelli O'Hara doesn't have any bigger/smaller a role than Victoria Clark, might they consider her leading? She really is.

I was thinking the same thing (does there HAVE to be 5?). I remember on another thread someone posting that one year they didnt think there was enough good shows so the only nominted 2 for best new musical.

actually, i dont think there has to be 5. the rules for nominating are on the tony site, i think i remember reading that they could decide that there wasnt enough women/talent to fit five slots.
Kelli might be in the lead category...
or Jenn Gambatese?

Posted: 4/10/05 at 6:02pmJenn Gambatese isn't good enough, in my opinion. Maybe Melissa Errico will get it for DRACULA just because?

and does Chitty have a female lead?
#63re: Munk's THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA review
Posted: 4/10/05 at 6:08pmDilly I think.

Just because the show will probably not get any nods, and she's a brilliant performer - the show was just bad. I wouldn't rule it out.
Yes, CHITTY does have a female lead.

Posted: 4/10/05 at 6:17pmWell, there's another show to see...
#66re: Munk's THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA review
Posted: 4/10/05 at 6:40pmI think Erico (who was as bland as day old bread in DRACULA) or Dilly will fill the 5th slot. But Im with the folks who think there only need to be 4 slots in Lead Actress this year!
#67re: Munk's THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA review
Posted: 4/10/05 at 6:59pmThe only person I can think of for the 5th spot is O'Hara (if she isn't put as featured).
#68re: Munk's THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA review
Posted: 4/11/05 at 5:36pmTo consider O'Hara featured is foolish - her part is clearly leading.
#69re: Munk's THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA review
Posted: 4/11/05 at 5:38pmPeople were saying that they'd put Clark as lead and O'Hara as featured. I definitely saw Kelli as lead, too. I'd either put it vice-versa, or have them both as lead.
#70re: Munk's THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA review
Posted: 4/11/05 at 5:39pmI don't think the producers want a competition between Clark and O'Hara, which is why she will in all likelihood be considered featured.
#71re: Munk's THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA review
Posted: 4/11/05 at 5:42pmI don't think they will, either. I just wish it were the other way around. It's so foolish to not consider Kelli lead. I wonder what'll happen with Matt. Featured, probably.

Thats what I was thinking with O'Hara, mef.
#74re: Munk's THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA review
Posted: 4/11/05 at 5:43pmThe fifth will probably be Dilly or Gambatese, but don't count out Espinosa. She could still squeeze her way in there. Stranger things have happened...
