I am a dance teacher & am looking for some music for a tap dance for high school kids. I am looking for something 1920s inspired. It can be from a broadway musical or not. I have listened to the 42nd Street OBCR & the Thoroughly Modern Millie recording. Nothing really inspires me on either of those (even though they are great recordings)!!!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Even if you know of a vocalist that I should check into. I am just having a hard time even figuring out where to begin to look for what I have in mind. Thanks!!!

Hmm, perhaps have a look at "Crazy for you" (Gershwin)

Thanks for the input...I actually own that. I'm off to listen now!
Something from Will Rogers Follies maybe? There's some really fun tap numbers in that. My first reaction was 42nd St. before I read the rest of your post. Anything Goes in the middle of the song Anything Goes has a tap number that I know in the revival Patti LuPone faked while two sailor boys did the real tapping next to her.
Anything Goes, Dames at Sea, No No Nanette...the list is endless.

Wicked1, check out LOVE IS GOOD FOR ANYTHING THAT AILS YOU from the soundtrack of PENNIES FROM HEAVEN. It even has a built-in thundering dance break. Either that or LULLABY OF BROADWAY from the soundtrack of GOLDDIGGERS OF 1933.
