Ah, people are fighting!
I believe Munk was the person who pulled the race card, not Tonya. Just to get that clear. I have a feeling Tonya just thinks (as does most of the rest of the music world) that Kanye West is an astounding Hip Hop/R&B/Rap writer/composer/performer. But then again, Tonya was a little harsh with her reply.
Don't fight! Spread the love! Respect people's opinions!
I'm not a huge fan of the medium, but I did see a hip-hop version of the story of Job at the Orlando Fringe Festival a few years ago and it was amazing
Bomb-itty of Errors was great!!
At least Eden will have another job.

Since my friend and I wanted to write a musical that would interest everyone my age we decided to do a rap/hip hop/r&b type music genre but we havent created anything. But if it was catchy rap and had dialogue in it I could sit through it. My friends would love it too.
I think rap musicals are a brilliant idea. Some of the best lyric writing on the planet is rap.
And I second that not all rap is about guns and hos. Let's be very careful not to generalize.
If RENT worked, a good rap musical can work.

Tonya was "a little harsh"? I must be missing something here, because here's what I saw:
Munkustrap:
I dislike Kanye West. Immensely.
Eminem, however, would be brilliant.
TonyaFanatic:
Munkustrap once again giving input to something he knows nothing about. just shut up. you dont understand kanye west or any other rapper.or rap music for that matter. such a loser.
Uh...yeah.
To get back on topic- I don't have a high tolerance for the sound of rap myself, so I don't know if I'd be able to take 2 hours of it. Nevertheless, even if rap artists who aren't misogynistic, materialistic, and violence-glorifying seem to be the exception rather than the rule, I do think rap is very well-suited for telling stories. A talented hip-hop artist could definitely make a musical work.

I'm absolutely thrilled about Andre 3000 (of Outkast) and Jeff Whitty's (Avenue Q) movie musical, which I'm guessing will be rap/hip hop? Sounds fun!
