IM not sure music of the night is "nod" to Brigadoon so much as its just similar.

The "Rolling Along" line in Last Five Years might be a reference to Old Man River.
In the same show, Cathy's "There are the people who cast Linda Blair in a musical" is an obvious reference to the Weisslers, who cast Linda Blair as one of their many Rizzos in the last GREASE revival.
I can't believe no one has mentioned TICK TICK BOOM - which features the song "Sunday" - a parodt of the song of the same name from SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE. Also, the song about doing West Side Story as a teenager.

I always thought that the "Party Line" reference in [tos] was a throwback to "Telephone Hour" in "Birdie"
During the bridge of "Hold On" from "Secret Garden" there's some of the music in "One Day More" in "Les Miz"
Music of the Night is STOLEN COMPLETELY from Come to Me, Bend to Me from Brigadoon. Lloyd Webber should have been sued.
How did I forget to mention the "My favourite pills" section of My Psychopharmacologist and I in Feeling Electric. It's a play on My Favourite Things from The Sound of Music.

ahh, glad you said that! i know this, and wanted to say it, but was afraid to for fear of some webber fanatic coming to the board and eating me, hahaa.
but yes, it really was stolen, webber should get some original material of his own.

The only similarities between Music of the NIght and Come to Me, Bend to Me is the first two bars, which is just a sequence.
You can't own a sequence, it's a staple of music composition. Actually, its a broken sequence with a quick candence.
Come to me, bend to me, is far superior in it's complexity. So saying they are the same thing is actually insulting Loewe, in my opinion :)

. . . according to Billy Crystal in "Forget Paris."
Also in Avenue Q, during Purpose, when Princton says "could it be, yes it could, something's coming- something good!" which is an exact line from Something Good from West Side Story. Actually, that whole song seems to be a little homage to Something Good.
Little Women and Seussical have sections of Les Miz.
Oh. My. God.
SparklingDiamond, I am ramming my face into the keyboard right now! I can't believe I NEVER caught on to that (Avenue Q/West Side). That's ridiculously hilarious! Hahaha Wow... I'm in disbelief how those lyrics fly right over me and I didn't even make the connection! Thank you!

They actually thank Sondheim for the lyric use in the liner notes.

There are a couple from "The Goodbye Girl" musical, even though there might be only a few of you who own the OBC. :) (Although, I LOVE the music from the show, personally.)
During "Elliot Garfield Grant", Elliot says something about Paula not leaving her razor on the sink, or he might turn into Sweeney Todd.
Later, during their love duet, "Paula", Elliot sings a line like "if my lyrics make you gag, I'll apply the Sond-heimlich maneuver."
Lots of cute lyrics in that show.
