I know it's been thrown around a zillion times or more about which Colleges/Conservatories are the best for Musical Theatre, but something that hasn't been discussed in great detail (at least not in the articles I found when I searched this topic) is the affordability of these places. What are some good schools that fall in around $10,000 to $15,000 a year? If the selection in that range is scarce, I'd be willing to push it up to $20,000....but I'm poor. Musical Theatre Schools Question lol Thanks all!

well most of the 2 year conservatories fall in that category because they're only for 2 years. The Neighborhood Playhouse falls in that category, but the cost of living might make it higher because they don't have dorms.

Hey,

You should check out Randolph Academy. Should fall in that price range, and it is a pretty good program.

I think you should consider North Carolina School for the Arts. The tuition for out of state students is a little over 14,000 dollars a year. It is a four year program and the arts facilities are very impressive. When you go to visit they allow you to sit in on all the classes.

Oh--one more benefit about North Carolina School for The Arts--
If you really impress them at audition, they may offer you a talent scholarship which greatly defrays the expenses

Well...you could always shoot for major major scholarships.

What's Point Park's cost like? They have a large number of theater students and offer a lot of scholarship options.

Lunatic, I just check out NC's website....doesn't appear they have a Musical Theatre program. Am I missing something?

NC does not have a musical theatre program it focuses on straight theatre. And Point Park really is very overpriced and very bleh, definatly a program on the way down.

A good conservatory is probably going to cost upwards of $30,000. Hey you can still try though, many schools give out huge talent scholarships.

Many State schools have excellent programs that often rival near by conservatories and are almost much cheaper. It would be a much better choice than scamda or one of those 2 yr places.
