My Fair Lady might be a bit difficult to do for middle schools!
Oliver!
Joseph...
The Wizard Of Oz
The Rocky Horror Monster Show (very toned down version of RHS)
Camelot has been done before

I've yet to see a Middle/Upper school go without doing Guys and Dolls. Things with large ensembles like Mame, Oliver, Honk, and Brigadoon always seem to be easiest when in a large club where everyone must be cast. If it's a small club, try for something like You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
I was in My Fair Lady (hence my username) last year and it was a cast of people going into 8th and 9th grade.

um, a piece of advice, dont do shockeaded peter, the middle school at my school wants to do that next year, even though i dont think rights are available.
Our middle school did Oliver (6th), Annie(7th), Once on This Island(8th), and this year, they did Godspell (I know the director).
Those were my grade levels.
But, yep. MTI is ur freeeenddd.
I second Bye, Bye, Birdie. We did that when I was in middle school. It isn't overly challenging. I really only had fun because I got to be Mr. MacAfee!
I must disagree with YAGMCB though. I was just in a production of the show and I must say that the music is deceptively difficult. I think middle school students might have trouble with it. Just my two cents.

in 6th grade we made up a show, dont ask, in 7th we did joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat, and in 8th we did the pirates of penzance it was a disaster because like 40 people auditioned and they didnt cut anyone but no one knew what they were doing.
Joseph....Technicolored Dreamcoat is also cute for that age.
That age?! MFL! You're barely out of middle school yourself! You're barely younger than I am!
Tsk tsk tsk. For shamefulness.
I like soudning older. Don't make fun of me! *hides in corner*
i think grease and bye bye birdie are probably 2 of the top favorites.
damn i WISH my middle school did guys and dolls. we just did crappy musical reviews every year.
We did the Music Man when I was in 6th grade, Hello Dolly in seventh grade, and this year we did The Sound of Music. All three (but especially TSOM) are great if there are a lot of people: we had sooooo many random nuns and like, townspeople.
My school was delusional...we did Pippin which was horrible and then my 99% white school did The Wiz...now colorblind casting is one thing but geez
beauty and the beast.
Godspell ( a personal fav!)
You're a Good Man Charlie Brown
Sound of Music
Fiddler
the wiz, starmites, and once on this island... all casts were completely white
i dont think jr high/middle schools sould be allowed to do/butcher musicals... Give the high schoolers something to do.
When I was in middle school I did "The Music Man Jr." in 6th grade; "Dear Edwina Jr." in 7th grade; and "Honk Jr." in 8th grade. But I hated "Honk Jr." and loved "Dear Edwina Jr." and thought "Music Man Jr." was okay, but it's sometimes hard to do shows with adult roles in them when you're in middle school. Elyse. No day but today.

Oooooookay....
My school was lame and we didn't theatre. I think out of the shows noted, I'd say Charlie Brown. It's cute a fun, and you can pull of casting a 6th grader as a 4 year old.
