Well, not exactly ENDS but "Do, Re,Mi" has the big solo called, eh, "All Of My Life" right before the finale scene.

One of the greatest... Floyd Collins. "How Glory Goes".

It seems a lot of us are remembering shows with very strong 11 o'clock numbers BEFORE their closing scenes.
And I must admit the first two shows that came to my mind were SHENANDOAH (but Charlie's "Meditations (reprise)" is followed by the second church scene and the return of Boy) and BALLROOM (but Bea's (i.e., Loudon's) "Fifty Percent" is followed by a full cast number and Bea's reprise of "I Wish You a Waltz").
Yet when I think back on BALLROOM after 30+ years, "Fifty Percent" is the last scene I recall.

Do operas count? Philip Glass's SATYAGRAHA ends with a very long solo for Gandhi.
Does EVITA's "Lament" count as a solo? Technically, the embalmers sing the last bit of that song right after Eva dies.

To my knowledge, the original poster hasn't been back to clarify his terms.
Opera isn't a disqualification to me. On the other hand, if choral finales and closing scenes don't count, then doesn't EVERY show end with a solo?
