Musicals that would make great novels

Posted: 6/10/06 at 11:34amI know it’s not an original musical, but Miss Saigon would make a great novel. If the backstories of the characters were fleshed out (Kim and Thuy’s childhood, how Chris met Ellen, more on the Engineer, etc.) it could easily fill three or four hundred pages. In the hands of a capable writer who conducted extensive research, Miss Saigon could be a great read.

Heh.
I think "Into The Woods" would be a fantastic book -- not quite on the children's level, but still readable by the younger and older crowd. More of a satirical look at fairy tales.
Also, "How To Suceed In Business..." would probably be an interesting turn at a novel. :)

I've been trying to hunt down a Sweeney book at work for a display I wanna do but there is no such thing. If someone would do a proper novel, I could die happy. And have an awesome display. ^_^

AIDA, would be a good read.
Provided that the dialogue was about twenty steps above what it was on Broadway, yes.

I think Rent could be made into a pretty solid novel.
I don't know if it is one already or not, but Parade would be a GREAT novel.
City of Angels seems like a natural...
Once on this Island would make a good book - maybe a kids' book...
Into the Woods HAS been turned into a book - and it's pretty much the script of the show...
