*****This review has been updated- I was recently informed that the shift key doesn't bite so I went through and fixed things I was too lazy to capitalize before... I'm just glad I don't have to worry about the shift key biting me in my sleep... just kidding : )*****

Ok, so I went to New York for my 21st birthday and saw some new shows and some of my favorites, here are my reviews:

October 11th: WICKED - So this was my 14th time seeing this show... I can't help it, I love everything about it. I had seen both Stephanie J. Block and Annaleigh Ashford when the first national tour came to Ft. Lauderdale, FL in February 2006 so I knew how amazing Stephanie was, but didn't expect much from Annaleigh as Glinda, even though I love her on the LEGALLY BLONDE cast recording. I had also read some things about what other people had thought about her first few performances in the show on Broadway and didn't really know what to expect... I should have known better than to listen to the opinions of others. I thought both Stephanie and Annaleigh were wonderful. I thought they worked very well together, and thought they BOTH had very strong character development. Anyway, as usual I loved the show.

October 12th: YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN - Again, I read things that people had said after the Seattle run and was a little doubtful as to whether or not I'd enjoy the show and again, I should have known better. The cast is amazing- Andrea Martin was hilarious. Megan Mullally is just one of my favorite actresses so I would have loved her if she had showed up and recited the phone book. Roger Bart was good, but maybe a little too spastic. Fred Applegate was great as the hermit and Kemp. Christopher Fitzgerald was hysterically funny as Igor. And of course my beloved Sutton Foster was fantastic in every way as Inga. She was my favorite part of the whole show and I finally got to meet her afterwards at the stage door which was REALLY exciting because I love her and she's amazing. I loved this show... but I don't know if I would have enjoyed it as much if Sutton wasn't in it. Oh, and Michelle Pfeiffer and David E. Kelley were there that night too. She's really gorgeous in person.

October 13th, 2pm: XANADU - I love this show... I can't help it. I think Kerry Butler is fantastic, I think Cheyenne Jackson is ridiculously talented, I think Mary Testa and Jackie Hoffmann are hysterical, I think Tony Roberts is great, and I think Andre Ward, Curtis Holbrook, Kenita Miller, and Anika Larson are all wonderful. I love how the show makes fun of how awful the movie really was. I love hearing Cheyenne and Kerry sing "Suddenly". I love everything about Jackie Hoffmann and Mary Test, and I pretty much love everything about this show.

october 13th, 8pm: LEGALLY BLONDE - OMIGOD! I loved, loved, loved, loved, loved, loved, loved this show. Laura Bell Bundy is fabulous and makes the show fabulous by association. Kate Shindle is also pretty fantastic, as is Christian Borle (aka Mr. Sutton Foster... lucky, lucky man). The whole cast is so full of energy and the show is just really, really fun.

October 14th: KELLY CLARKSON at the Beacon Theatre - Kelly Clarkson rocks my world... that is all.

Wow. I'm lucky if I get to see 2 shows per trip... Glad you enjoyed them all. The YF review helped me because I've been debating wether I want to see it or not, and I think you may have persuaded me to...

"It means nothing to come and sit in a theater night after night and immerse yourself in fantasy, only then to walk out the door and be unchanged in reality. This show will live on in our hearts. But where it truly must survive is in our actions, our compassion and our generousity of spirit towards one another." - Adam Pascal on the closing of RENT

We had tickets for "THE COLOR PURPLE" too, but we got to the theatre early enough to find out that Fantasia was out for some reason or another and we got a refund. I've seen the show 4 times, twice with the original cast and twice with Fantasia, and I didn't really want to sit through it again without Fantasia being in. So that wasn't really too disappointing, we just ended up having an extra afternoon of free time... but yeah it was a great trip and i don't know how or if I'll ever top it.
