My DIRTY ROTTEN Review...April 3rd, 3pm.

Let me start by saying... the lottery system has been good to me. I am two for two... we won Wicked on the first try, and now DRS on our first try!

Anywho... AMAZING SEATS for cheap prices would make anyone happy lol. Now onto my review...

Besides reading one official press review after its opening, and a few on here... I really had no idea what to expect. I had purposely held off on watching the movie because i wanted to be completely surprised.... and I am OH SO GLAD i made that choice... because I was in awe the whole time.

This way by far the funniest show I have ever seen. I loved the mix of smart, witty funny... and then the raunchy dirty funny. Its nice to have a little of both!!! I thought the score was incredible... a perfect mix of everything... and quite memorable (def looking forward to the CD). The theme that is constantly played throughout the show (kinda like the pink panther theme lol) is great... and really added to the mood set.
Favorite songs include...Give them what they want (a nice intro into the show), GREAT BIG STUFF( got everyone completely into it!), OKLHOMA(so much fun!), Ruprecht (i almost peed myself... it was the funniest thing ive ever seen!!!), Ruffhousinmit shuffhousin was also great fun, Love is my legs was amazing, and the dirty rotten number was one of my favorite musical moments of all time... John and Norbert had amazing chemistry and looked like the really had a blast.

I thought the book was really solid... nice and tight.... everything flowed nicely. I liked the side story with Joana Gleasons character and Greg Jbaras... it was a nice addition without taking too much away from the central plot. I also LOVED the plot twists!

Norbert is hilarious and just so comfortable up on that stage. John has such a presence.... hes a really great actor and im glad
to have gotten to see him on stage. Sherie was also awesome... shes got a beautiful voice... and had so much fun with her character!!! Joana G and Greg J were both fantastic, and Sara Gettlefinger did an awesome job with her supporting role (great voice, and phenomonal dancer!) The ensemble in this show was also amazing...Nice and small and everyone really had a time to shine.

The sets and costumes were beautiful and well utilized. They really added to the whole atmosphere... I loved the jewels on everything- very glitzy.

Overall, its the most fun I have ever had in the theatre. It rivals ave q and surpasses the producers. I would be happy to see such a hardworking company and creative team walk off with the tony! I think Norbert might win the tony, and Sherie and John should definatly get noms for their work here!

I saw DRS on March 23rd and thought it was great. I think at first I was a little bored with it, mainly because it was completely new to me, I had never watched the movie, and never heard the music. However, as the show went on I got attached. Yeah, I loved that little "tune" played in the overture that was practically played throughout the whole show! I was waiting for the actual song that was going to feature that tune ("The Reckoning"). It grew on you.

I went with the impression that John Lithgow was going to be IT in the show, since he is such a big name. However, even though he was amazing and hilarious, as everyone has been saying, Norbert Leo Butz stole the show. I haven't seen the other males that are possibilities for best actor, so all I can say is that NLB definitely deserves at least a Tony Nom for best actor. If not, then I just might have to slap someone in the face! Just kidding. Anyways, I was in the rear mezz, but at intermission was able to get sits in the center orchestra (7th/8th row). Someone wanted to move because the guy in front of them had big hair. Hey, it didn't bother me and was better than the rear mezz. Great show, go see it!

Seen it twice now, once pre & once post reviews. The first time neither he, Sherrie, or Johanna got entrence applause - after the reviews came out - they ALL got enterence applause! And deserved!

john and norbert got great applause when they entered, joana got a good response...but sherie got an uproar for her great "blonde moment" entrance lol

When I saw it (all the way back on January 31), all 5 above the title actors got entrance applause.

ugh, i really wanna see this!!!! Wish the show was touring next season....

My only critique of the show was that too many of the laughs were not genuine. 50% were like "Okay, we want a huge laugh here, so, let's think of something that will make them laugh and miss the little things that are not so good."

I found that familiarity with the humor much more the case at Spamalot. The majority of that audience knew all of the classic jokes, and laughed before the scenes even began. All that had to do was see one entrance that let them know what was going on, and they were cracking up already. The DRS audience had a bit of that feel, but it's not exactly the same as the movie, is it? Spamalot has a lot of things that are taken directly from the Holy Grail, I think.

All 3 times I went, the only real laugh before a scene I heard that made me wonder if people were familiar with the movie was when John Litghow told Sara Gettlefinger that his brother's name was "Ruprecht." People laughed at that, as if they knew what was coming.

I saw the show on March 29th, I have to agree with the general consensus: Norbert was fabulous and the show in general was a good deal better than Spamalot.
Norbert and Joanna got good entrance applause (much of it from me though) Lithgow, who was better than I expected, got the huge stuff but tv does that I guess.
I'd rather have been the baker's wife anyday, although I'm the wrong gender

The next time I see this show, I hope to sit where I did for the "Boy from Oz"--row C, right orchestra. I did not see Norbert in "Cabaret" but I loved his interpretation of Ruprecht. I thought he and John--and the whole cast--were great together.

I saw DRS (the movie) right before the musical, sort of wished I hadn't seen them so close--would have enjoyed being surprised a little more. (I had seen the movie years ago--a classic!)

Ah Yes that would be be ME rhapsodizing on Norb's vocal abilities .
