The big differences: The OBC is in mono and the London is in Stereo. That was the main reason for doing the London recording.
On the London recording Harrison "sings" his numbers rather than strictly talking them as on Broadway.
Having seen both productions, Harrison played the part much broader in London. I don't know if it was because of the size of the Drury Lane or that he just didn't realize how much more expansive he had become.
Andrews was a delight over here and in London.

Andrews did make her cockney accent more authentic for London ears.
Despite being in stereo, the London cast has inferior sound. It is over-modulated causing excessive distortion. The performances are a little rushed too.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
