The Prince of Egypt
Cats don't Dance
Anastasia

I am also trying to, for fun, write a sequel to Into The Wodds called "Outta The Wooods(and Into The World)."

Hmm.. I'll try and be serious.

The Prince of Egypt.. pretty sure you'll have to make it as different from Disney's as possible (which wouldn't be hard).

Cats Don't Dance.. Is this going to be the opposite of CATS? What?

Anastasia.. again, has to be different from the Meg Ryan fiasco. Needs to be the actual story, not the glamorized version. The poor girl didn't live. Sorry.

And don't touch Sondheim.

I would love to see Anastasia on broadway. I think it will work very well and it would be something different and it would give an opportunity for a new broadway star to shine in such a good role.

As for the Prince of Egypt...there is already the Ten Commandments and it's the same story. Not worth repeating.

I would like to see some musicals that steer far away from the Disney genre, but the Outta the Woods idea sounds like a really good forbidden broadway. I like it.

I don't think a sequel to Into the Woods would work. It'd be kind of boring. (Personally, I wouldn't touch Sondheim.)

Those other three ideas are all animated features. Are you thinking of adapting those films into musicals? If so, I think Anastasia would work the best.

I think that's playing in London or it will be.

Well, I am hoping Prince of Egypt will be Disney's next venture. I have wanted it for years. Ugh. Would be awesome.

PRINCE OF EGYPT IS NOT A DISNEY FILM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IMDB.com is your friend.

...and before anyone else says it... Neither is Anastasia!

People seem to forget that The Prince Of Egypt wasn't a Disney movie.

"Holiday Inn"... I had that idea long before the "White Christmas" was ever put on stage, but I'd LOVE to see "Holiday Inn" as a stage musical... such great songs!

If Anastasia ever came to Broadway I would insist that they keep my favourite members of the original film - Jeff Blumenkrantz, Judith Blazer, Victoria Clark and Alix Korey.

God, EVERYONE was in that film, weren't they!

Yes, Dirty Dancing is playing in London - but it's not a musical. It's a play with music. And it's apparently diabolical!

What about (and yes, I know some of these make no sense as musicals but it was interesting to think about)...

The Grapes of Wrath
In Cold Blood (although since it's a true story and the movie Capote was just made...)
Fried Green Tomatoes
The House on Mango Street
A Lesson Before Dying
Ellen Foster
Plainsong
The Canterbury Tales
What the Deaf-Mute Heard

and since there's a musical about a spelling bee... why not have JEOPARDY, the musical? Updated On: 8/15/06 at 07:18 PM
