I really like the melody to "From the Dead." I'm surprised it's gone. Or is it?

I believe they cut it for good near the beginning of NY previews; but now it's back in at the beginning of the show. I don't know how different it is though. If they use it at the beginning of the show, it would make sense to use it at the end of the show.

And from what I understand Bernie Taupin is still on hand and fiddling with the lyrics; and this wouldn't require Elton to change or write any thing more. Didn't he say he was finished writing for this show?

The song is sung through in its entirey in the beginning of the show (after Lestat's monologue). It was there the first night of previews, as well, so if it was cut, it was only for a night or two.

Ah, ok. I thought at one point there was no trace of "From the Dead" in the show. My bad. re: My Lestat Experience -4/12 review

I saw "Lestat" yesturday (4/12) and I thought it was pretty good. I don't know...it was a little weird and some of it was hard to understand. I loved Hugh Panaro, I just thought he was amazing as usual. I love his voice. I met him after the show and he was SO nice.
I wouldn't spend a $100 to see this show...those of you in college/high school- go for the student rush seats. I paid the $21.25 for a student rush seat and of course it was in the nose bleed section but after the first act I moved down. Overall, the show was good.
