GYSPSY:

So I got to my hotel at 6:45, and RACED over to the Center...it took me forever to find too...it's in such a RANDOM location next to all the other theaters. Or at least, the first day i was there it seemed that way. I went to the box office, and they literally had 2 tickets left...so I got one. I was sitting Mezz, last row, but DEAD center. It was an excellent seat, and for Patti I didn't give A SH*T where I was sitting.

There really isn't much I can say except that it was STUNNING! I really enjoyed the fact that it wasn't a HUGE production. It seriously relied on that talents of it's AMAZING cast, and I so much appreciated that. Especially in this day and ago of theater...that doesn't happen very often anymore.

Patti was exceptional, I'm pretty sure I creamed my pants of joy at the end of Rose's Turn. OMG! There's really not much more I can say for a review. I was enthralled, enraptured, delighted, and amazed. It was excellent!

So of COURSE I went to the stage door...and YES Patti DID come out. I got my picture with her, and I had her sign my LES MIS cd, I also cried a little bit. She looked at me, and said "YOU'RE SUCH A DOLL" and then we took the picture after I calmed down, lol. It was an AMAZING start to my trip...and I'm SO grateful I was able to see it! re: My NY Trip! 15 shows in 10 days! (Now with REVIEWS! and PICTURES!)

XANADU:

WOW! I had a BLASTY BLAST! I was sitting in the on stage seats. In the first seat on stage left. So I had an excellent side/front view of the show! It was so exciting to be sitting there, and look up and see all those GIANT disco balls....haha, it was most excellent.

Everyone was on that night, except I had an understudy for Cheyenne. I was a little dissapointed until I saw what he looked like, and heard him sing. He was great, and I'm pretty sure I have my new man crush. (Of course my heart will always belong to C.J.)

The show was SOO funny. It was everything I could have wanted in Xanadu, and I AM PROUD to now call myself an OFFICIAL Fanadu! Yay!!! The best part about the whole show though was Mary and Jackie! GOOD LORD are they brilliant...it was so funny to because Jackie kept coming up to me and talking and making faces at me the entire show. I LOVED IT! What other show does that!? Overall, I really enjoyed it. It is, as the critics say, "heaven on wheels"

Story time: Before the show I met Jackie at the stage door while I was taking a picture of the Marquee. I told her how much I liked her, and how funny I thought she was...and she goes "Oh you're sweet. but go away, I look like a ****ing idiot standing here...UGH...I'm crazy!" HAHAHAH...gotta love her.

the entire cast was SOO sweet...especially Andre Ward! He's also got AMAZING energy on stage! WOW

GREY GARDENS:
Is the BEST/ MOST BRILLIANT/ ARTISTIC/ AND PHENOMENAL piece of theater I have ever seen in my entire life. It is a TRAVESTY AND IMMENSE loss to the theater community that this show has closed! I'm devestated, and I'm SOOO soo grateful I was able to see it. I can't imagine what it would have been like to not experience this show.

I was crying literally the entire time. of joy, of laughter, of sadness, of heartache. It was so real, and truthful, and Ebersole...what a gift her performance was. I will NEVER forget seeing her.

It was so special, when she stepped out of the house at the beginning of Act 2 the audience gaver her a standing ovation. It was stunning, I was so proud to be standing there, cheering for this AMAZING performer. She was absolutely beaming also, and then she started to cry and put her head down. then smiled again, and went on with the show. It was emotional, and I've never seen something like that before. But she truly deserved EVERY SECOND of it!

I liked the first act which was entertaining, but NOTHING can ever compare to the fantastickness of Act 2! MY GOD! MY FREAKIN GOD! The whole thing was a marvel to witness. Especially the ending...Another Winter...so amazing. I was balling, and when she walked back into the house I just wanted to reach out and just huge edie. It was devestating. So devestating.

I can't explain how much this show moved me, and touched me. I'm so grateful to have seen it. Ebersole gave IMO one of the greatest performances Broadway has/ probably ever will see

Sounds like we were at the same shows sometimes! Particularly 110 and Beauty and the Beast. Was Gypsy Thursday or Friday? And which day did you see Les Mis? :)

Yeah ~ I was at Gypsy Thursday night and both of the closings you were. I was kind of at Les Mis on...I think Wednesday...Having seen the original I was disappointed and left to preserve the good memories I had.

Which 3 shows did you see in one day? :-O

I actually didn't have to save that long...only for about a month. re: My NY Trip! 15 shows in 10 days! (Now with REVIEWS!)

I'm pretty lucky that way

and the understudy I had was Curtis Holbrook

*whoops*

I think you mean Curtis Holbrook - and yeah, he's great.

And again, thanks. Some of us didn't see it. (that's sarcasm, and also a little jealousy.)

IAMmyownMUSICAL, I think I saw you at the Spring Awakening stage door on Friday August 3rd. If it was you, I was the one talking to you about the girl who was going crazy over each cast member who came out of the door and told each them basically her whole life story.

What theater is that behind the picture of you and Matt? It's one of the more tasteful marquees I've seen. I like it.

110 IN THE SHADE:
I was sitting last row mezz, and it was an EXCELLENT seat. I could clearly see everything, and it was an amazing view. So I had never seen the show before, or heard the music...the only version of 110 I was familiar with was "The Rainmaker"

First off, I loved the set. It was simple, and elegant, and really worked well for the theme of the show. The spinning set seemed to help a lot, and make transitions seamless. The flow of the show was excellent. Never a dull moment.

I LOVED Audra's entrance. Because the crowd went nuts. YES I WAS AT THE LAST PERFORMANCE! It was so wonderful to be there...a true gift. Audra did not dissapoint. She was passionate, and fueled through the entire show...along with the rest of the cast. The ensemble is a true standout as well. The whole cast fit together so well, and everyone gave a top notch performance. The only thing I had trouble connecting with though was Audra's closing in Act 1. It was hard to understand, but at around the last verse when the music swells the song stated to get to me, and I was able to enjoy it much more.

The rain! What a magnificent thing the rain was. Everyone on stage was hooing and hollaring, and it was obvious they were all trying to savor that final moment. It was glorious, and wonderful. I cried.

The curtain call was great. Audra did make a small speech...she even thanked her drivers. She's such a lovely person. And at the stage door a lot of the cast came out with tears in their eyes. It was...special re: My NY Trip! 15 shows in 10 days! (Now with REVIEWS!)

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST:
It was the final show on broadway, and also one of the most magical nights of theater I've ever seen. yes the show has been scalled down a lot, and yes the cast plays for laughs WAYYY to much. But getting past its flaws, Beauty really is a remarkable show, and has such a big heart at its root that it's very hard not to fall in love with the show.

Donny is AMAZING...who knew he'd bee sooo good as Gaston!? Haha...well i didnt. And Ms. Van der Pool is an EXCELLENT Belle. Far more resrved, and angry, but her voice is spectacular. Its worth it just to hear her sing 'A CHANGE IN ME'

theres not much more I can say...because I know this has probably been covered by tons of people already, and I don't want to bore anyone. What was special about it for me was, Beauty was the first musical I ever saw when I was 5 years old. And there I was, watching it's closing night. It was like coming full circle...and I very much appreciated being a part of it.

This show WILL BE MISSED. Too bad I don't think the Lunt feels the same way!

FORBIDDEN BROADWAY:
Is a solid show, but gets VERY tiring after awhile. It was a fun night of theater, but I have seen much better from this show. The old acts were boring at times, but the cast was what made it fun. I loved the Grey Gardens bit...but I'm pretty sure I was the only one in the audience who even knew what the actress was making fun of.

The spring awakening bit stole the show (The actors even had trouble not laughing...it was brilliant. Truly the BEST skit I've ever seen in FB). It was most excellent...if the whole show had the energy and cleverness of THAT skit...it would have been amazing. otherwise, the show was a cute, fun night out.
