I love this girl! I saw the concert New Years Day(FRONT ROW!) and she is just too much....
She started off with "Should I be Sweet" and it only got better. She sang mostly old-stye musical theater songs @ least one by Jerome Kearn "a composer I feel born to sing" and did a little commentary in- between the songs. One of the first jokes she told, unfortunately not very funny one, was something about having her mic on from a tech rehearsal in Wicked in SF and then going to Jack in the Box and telling the guy she was from earth when he asked where she was from. The audience gave her a little laugh anyway and she went on.
My favorite part came when she sang "Taylor the Latte Boy" and vamped and made cute faces at the audience during the song or mouthed the words "Oh My God" and so on. She also poked a little fun @ herself talking about how she used to sing all these standards at auditions and all the other girls would be there singing RENT how she could be "downtown" too so she starts to sing great balls of fire but and when she gets to the words "great balls of fire" her opera voice comes out. Because, as she explained, that's what happens when she's nervous. She also had these two male dancers who danced a little bit with her @ certain parts but mostly the concert was centered on her.
The only song she sang from "Wicked" was "For Good" with her singing both parts.
The audience gave her a standing ovation so she walked back out on stage and went straight to her box of jewels she had already set up to sing "Glitter and be Gay" and then they gave her another one and she walked back on again for a second encore-although I can't remember what she sang. And then she got another one but this time only Lippa came out and led the orchestra in a final song.
Overall, I enjoyed the concert immensely as I am a Kristin fan and she seems to take ehrself so seriously that it makes me laugh every time.

Did Andrew Lippa conduct the entire evening?

seems her West Wing "friend" Aaron Sorkin was in the audience as well.

As long as her friend doesn't try and put her in a pipe and smoke her. She has such odd taste in men.

But enough about her personal life, will someone tell me about Lippa! I read another review and it said he only conducted an encore song??

He conducted quite a bit of Kristin's performance. Most of it, actually. Others, he played the piano in. It was so cute...on New Years, as she walked off the stage, she gave Andrew Lippa a little smooch and he mouthed "Love you". It was very sweet.

That good for a Lippa fix?

Aah, bless you Shira467!
Not enough of a fix (I wish he'd finish Betty Boop already)! Thank you!
