re: My Thoughts on DEUCE - Just plain....

I wonder if the show is still having any re-writes. If that is the case, it is very hard to remember lines if you've received them say a few hours or even a day before the show. I don't know if they are still re-writing or not.

While I'm not saying it's an excuse, in your eighties it is very hard to remember a lot of lines, Ms. Redgrave is in her early 70s, and a lot can happen in 10 years with the mind. I think it is great that Angela, in her eighties is returning to the stage. We should be grateful, even if the written show isn't worthy of her or Seldes or anyone else.

They're definitely rewriting - by the minute. I understand that it's tough to remember when it changes day to day, but to have the embarrassment of someone shouting lines from the wings? At least have an earpiece. It's not like they can't afford it.

Make it look LESS obvious and I'd have no problem.

Didn't mean to be inordinately bitchy -- sometimes it's just easier to read all thoughts on one show in previews in the same place. However, everyone of course has the right to initiate a thread.

Thanks very much for taking the time to write your thoughts on this.

Gives me a picture of what it's like to see the show right now.

I'll wait to see how it fares at opening to see if I want to invest the time/money to see it.

If you sit in the back of the orchestra, you can see fine & hear no prompting.

I think it's a very interesting premise, actually. 2 pioneers of women's doubles tennis discussing their lives and triumphs at an event honoring them has a great deal of potential....trouble is, all that potential is diverted by discussions of nipples and staying regular (though those topics provide the funniest lines).

Funniest lines, perhaps. But more funny in an "Oh My God -- am I really seeing dancing skeletons being projected onto the curtain?!" sort of way.
