To be honest with you I didn't know what to expect going in. I am still not quite sure if I liked it or not. The show did make me tear up at different points and I did leave the theatre with a lump in my throat.
Some of the highlights were the cast. It was hard to find a singal bad person in it. However, I did not see Titus as Sebastian. Instead I saw Alan Mingo. He was good.
Sherri was AMAZING in the role of eursila. I could easily hear her sing all day amazing belt. Just gave the character so much life.
Norm Lewis. His acting was great but it was sad that he didn't do more singing. The little bit he had in that department was amazing.
Serria was AMAZING. It was clear that she was having the time of her life on that stage. Her non speaking acting in act two was really funny. It could have gotten puled off all wrong but it didn't.
I love the sets and the lights. If this doesn't get a creative tony of some sort I will eat my hat.
Overall I would reccomend this. Great show. Great cast great all around.

Can't you even make the slightest effort to spell proper names correctly?
If and IF it will get any nominations.....It will probably the SCORE.
and thanks for youre review and I agree the cast are ALL good and enough reason to see the show but the costumes, sets and lighting iMO are just average...

I don't know how I'd feel about The Little Mermaid on stage, but I would love to own the recording and can't wait to get my hands on it.
Thanks for your review! Glad you liked the show!
For all that has been said against it, it was the ONLY Disney show that hasn't bored me to tears after the first 20 minutes.
I actually found myself paying attention for the entire evening.
I saw the evening performance yesterday. I went in prepared to dislike it, not because of the reviews but because I have a fear of Disney permanently dumbing down Broadway. The good: the entire cast seems extraordinarily talented and good looking. I thought Sherie was amazing as Ursula, inspite of her awkward and inhibiting costume. The music, both old and new, was wonderful, and the quartet in "If Only" was some of the best singing I have heard on Broadway recently. The bad: the costumes and the heelies. Just reminded me of a bad Halloween parade in an elementary school. Not graceful or magical. The ugly: the sets and the attempts at magic. I was in the second row of the mezzanine, and with the possible exception of Ariel's first transformation, none of the effects was special. And extra kudos to Brian D'Addario as Flounder who stole every scene he was in and has an unbelievable voice. I liked the show - I hated the box it came in.
