Excuse the lateness, I just never got around to this.
For the past 5 years, I've been obsessed with Ragtime, so I tried and tried to see the revival but never could. The day they announced closing it dawned on me that I'd never see it. But just 2 days later, I woke up with a pair of tickets to the final (extended) performance on my bedside table. I was ecstatic.
The Simon was packed to the teeth, and abuzz with grief and excitement. The curtain went up on a portrait of the 40-person cast and we went CRAZY. I listened to a recording of it, 17 total minutes of applause throughout the show. Everyone gave 300%
Mamie-Never have I seen an understudy and been this impressed. She was elegant and poised and commanded the stage. When I spoke to her later that day, she said it was so strange being shot out of a cannon but she was so grateful to have this experience.
Quentin-Beyond words. He was practically wearing "Place Tony here" above his head. Amazing.
Robert-Truly inspirational, My great-great grand-tateh went through the same process (minus the whole fame factor lol) so his performance truly struck a chord with me.
It sucks so few people were able to see this, but those who did were very lucky.
So funny because I've been singing "Til We Reach That Day" all afternoon. I was there as well, and it was my third "final performance." A friend told me when I moved to New York that if you love a show, you should try to go see the final performance if it is at all possible. So, even though I had to charge it...I bought a ticket and was so glad that I did. I found Bobby Steggart's performance to be so heartfelt that got tickets to see him in YANK later this month. Along with him, Quentin was the stand out for me. My friend who had resisted going to the revival, since in her mind, no one could come close to the original cast, was also impressed with him. I'm glad you liked it. I saw a touring company a few years ago in Gainesville and I was not very impressed. However, seeing this revival has put RAGTIME on my list of all time favorites. So, thank you...to the cast of the recent revival...for giving this show to me!

How did the tickets end up on your bedside table? Did you use The Laws of Attraction? Did The Rock deliver them late at night?
I usually pray to the Yoruba deities and *BAM* I wake up to some choice theater tickets....Works every time.

I'm totally about to Google those deities.
The first thing I thought of was that they read, "The Secret".
