I will admit that I enjoy plays more than musicals, but I do indeed enjoy musicals.

Just look at my thread on Spamalot yesterday. (I think it's on page 2 by now...)

What's with all the questioning? If Yankee didn't enjoy it, that's his opinion. Sometimes revivals can make material different, and Yankee chose to see the show to give it another chance.

Thanks for your review Yankee. I'm excited to see the production this week.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

'Cause you never know how a production can turn a show around. Know what I mean?

THAT certainly is true. The first production I saw of Shaw's YOU NEVER CAN TELL was deadly dull, but when the Shaw Festival revived it two summers ago they gave it a brilliant new design (the set was like a giant sea shell) and had a first rate cast.

And I hope it didn't seem like I was "grilling" Yankeefan. I have encountered a number of so-called theatre fans (snobs?) that go in with their mind made up, with a faint hope that the production might change their opinion. Then there are people who don't even bother seeing the shows and just throw out negative opinions about everything hoping it makes them seem so intelligent and discerning. Speaking of which, where is TheEnchantedCunter these days?

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
