NBC's The Event

Anybody else catch the series premiere of The Event?

SPOILER ALERT!

I'm pretty intrigued and did not see that ending coming at all. Can't help but feel some inevitable LOST comparisons, even though it's clear these are completely different shows. Can't say there was a ton of character development, but I'm sure we'll see that in the coming weeks. My interest is piqued!

NBC's The Event

We watched it and liked it. I'm worried the reveal is going to be either aliens or X-Men type people -- I really hope there's another explanation for who "they" are, though I'm not really sure what else could do what happened in the final minutes...

Forgot this was on. Will it be available online?

I would imagine it would be. It's also being re-aired on Saturday at 8pm

I liked it. I had the strangest sense of Deja vu watching the first half of it. It was really odd, it felt like I had seen it a long time ago and was struggling to remember what was going to happen. Don't know how else to explain it but it was the strongest I'd ever had that feeling before. Weird, huh?

Ehh, I wasn't impressed. Thought a whole lot of nothing happened in the pilot, and the entire time, I kept thinking to myself this was like "Lost Lite." The big "event" that "everyone will be talking about" tomorrow was laughable.

I'll give it a few more weeks to see if it becomes interesting, but right now, it looks like a big stinker, though not as bad as the "Cowgirl Catches Bad Guys" show that was on after it.

Well, I hope the pay off is worth it. I am sick of investing time and enthusiasm into shows only to have them canceled. Networks do not give TV shows a chance. If it does not have high ratings in the first or second episode it's usually canceled.I am gonna give this show a chance.

*** SPOILER ALERT ***

It's aliens. It's already been leaked. And you probably had a sense of Deja vu because it's a mix of about 3 or 4 other shows. It's as if they took LOST, V, FAST FORWARD, and a couple of others, and threw them into a blender. I wish they would stop trying so hard to come up with the next LOST. I'm not investing my time.

Is that really the case?? Ugh that's pathetic. It was the first and most obvious assumption I made after the pilot and that's awfully disappointing to hear that's the case.

NBC's The Event

I'm going to pretend that leak isn't true - because if it's aliens, then it becomes the most derivative story it could be. I'm choosing to believe it's something more - until it ends up being aliens in the end.

NBC's The Event

I thought it had an interesting pilot, not nearly as good as say the LOST pilot or the ALIAS pilot but it was interesting enough and I felt Jason Ritter made for quite a magnetic lead. I did think the storytelling felt somewhat convoluted, gimmicky and derivative and I agree there wasn't much room for character development. I'm gonna see what the first few episodes look like and give it a chance, I miss LOST so much!

I always thought Jason Ritter had so much of his father in him - his mannerisms, etc. But last night I saw nothing of John Ritter in his performance which says to me that he's grown as an actor since his days on "The Class" (which was another show that was canceled too early).

Funny, Eris, because I was WATCHING for the John Ritter mannerisms and they weren't there at all. Really interesting.

I miss Lost too - I doubt this will be a "replacement", but anything on network tv that doesn't spoon feed plot is worth giving a chance if you ask me!

NBC's The Event

I believe I did stumble upon what The Event was supposed to be and..

**SPOILERS**

It definitely was not aliens, from what I read. I am pretty sure I read (It was definitely in an Esquire/GQ TV preview) it was some weird hybrid type that was partially human and partially something else. It could be part alien, I am a bit fuzzy on the details. Anyway, a bunch of them are kept in some secret facility up North, in Alaska, I believe.

NBC's The Event

the pilot episode is on itunes for free just in case some of you wanted to watch it and missed it...

i am going to watch it and stick with it for a few episodes.. i liked jason ritter (i too enjoyed him in the Class and was upset it was canceled)...

my only annoyance with the show is the whole time jumping thing... i really hope that was only used for the pilot episode because i don't think i can keep watching a show that uses that annoying "13 months ago" device

Boo. Don't watch that pap. Watch Chuck! NBC's The Event

I tried to watch The Event, but I was already biased against it because of the stupid backwards E in its logo and it all went downhill from there. No, I'm not going to be all excited about your mystery just because your promos tell me to be. And you're not an EVENT just because you say you are. Ugh.

Chuck and The Event are on the same network - no conflict.
