NYT: ‘Hadestown’ Hits Movie Theaters, and Theater to Stream in July

Jul 23, 2026 — 7:13:09 PM

Just getting out of this and I am very serious when I say this just might be the best filmed version of a show that has ever been made. Not only is the filming spectacular, capturing things I’d never even noticed, but as someone who has seen this show (and this cast many many times) this is the best they’ve all ever been. I’m sort of dumbstruck with just how magnificent this entire thing was. This sets an impossibly high bar for any show that wants to do this moving forward, and I’m very glad...

Re: P!nk and her daughter are doing Next to Normal

This is one of those things i haven’t commented on because it just has sounded too absurd to be real but I was told by someone a while ago that it is a real thing being worked on. I do agree with Bettyboy that there’s just something about essentially having a Broadway career being bought by your Mom that just doesn’t sit right - especially knowing so many amazing people over the years who grind non stop 24/7/365, just hoping to land a role on Broadway. But that’s showbiz.

& JULIET Replacement Casting

Jul 15, 2026 — 7:26:36 PM

Liam is so good as Romeo, sad to see him go. I went last night to see Chrissy Metz who is doing the show with a very odd Texas drawl that had me confused for two hours. But last night we did have Zalah Vallien on as Juliet and she was honestly one of the best Juliet’s I’ve ever seen. I really hope I’m lucky enough to get to see her in the role again when I go back to see Joey Fatone.

Downstate Premiering on Broadway this Fall?

Jul 14, 2026 — 2:30:29 PM

I would hope if this is true that Freeman is able to do it, he was brilliant. But I would personally be upset it Brian Hutchison didn’t get to reprise Andy on a bigger stage. He f*cking destroyed me with his performance.

New Movie of Phantom

If this were to happen, I’d be fascinated by what someone like Robert Eggers or Guillermo Del Toro could do with it.

Paddington transfer…. Other west end shows?

Jul 7, 2026 — 12:34:30 PM

I think we’ll still in a place for quite a while where (for a lot of reasons) we will be getting a ton of shows imported from London. I just got back yesterday and saw a ton of stuff - some much more successful than others. But of the things I saw, what I think could do well here are “1536” and “Jesus Christ Superstar”. This JCS is still the best production of the show I’ve ever seen done and I’m really surprised it hasn’t landed at a Broadway house yet. It’s just as thrilling as it was when ...

Paddington Al Hirschfeld March 2027

Jul 5, 2026 — 12:34:31 PM

I spoke to Bonnie Langford after the show this week and (since this was outside around a dozen other people I think it's fine to say here) I asked her if she was planning to come to Broadway with it. She said no, that the only people coming over are James Hameed and Artie Shah (Paddington) and that the Broadway production wants to do "their own thing" with the rest of the cast and I think that's a very smart idea. So the dream casting can continue. :)

OH, MARY Reviews (2026 New)

Jun 30, 2026 — 9:01:05 AM

What I found most interesting about Maya was that I MUCH preferred her performance at the beginning of her run compared to when I saw her a week or so ago.

Spotted Celebrities in Audience

I’m sure I’ve said this before but my #1 will always be Barbra Streisand at “Porgy and Bess”.

what's next for Caissie Levy

Jun 19, 2026 — 7:04:09 PM

The character of Mrs. Brown needs to completely exude warmth, love and kindness. It’s a tough role to cast and there’s something about Levy that just makes me think she could be perfect for it.

"La Cage" at City Center

Jun 19, 2026 — 10:50:09 AM

Yes this takes place somewhere and everywhere between 1983 and 2026.

"La Cage" at City Center

But I do want to add that I thought Wayne Brady was pretty great.

"La Cage" at City Center

Jun 18, 2026 — 11:42:11 PM

Oh my. This was…not good. “La Cage” is truly one of the all-time great contributions to musical theater, so to see the show done like this, ultimately made me sad. There were more than a few moments we burst out laughing at some things that were just so jaw droppingly bizarre but this production misses basically every single mark. Billy forgot a line tonight and while trying to find it in his script he looked at the audience and yelled “Ten Days, Bitches!” and yes of course the audience screa...
