BEACHES Previews
 Apr 22 2026, 10:26:50 AM

I went again last night to see if anything’s changed (it hadn’t) and I’m more shocked than anything that they still don’t let that poor lady change out of her hospice clothes for the curtain call.

Early previews I said how the book for a good portion of act one is actually pretty funny and campy in parts but damn, last night it was NOT funny anymore. Whether they removed the jokes or were told to tone it down, this show DRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGE

Seaview Planning Cat on a Hot Tin Roof Broadway Revival Directed by Sam Gold

That was originated at The Young Vic but got a National Theater Live release, so that’s easy to see why someone would think that.

I forgot about that “Picnic” - a production I enjoyed.

And yeah, Skipper was always around on that bare Almeida stage. It was AWFUL.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 4/19/26

Was Lea out of “Chess” last week?

I can’t imagine Gold would agree to do this play unless he has a “vision” for it and that terrifies me. After Rebecca Frecknall’s ridiculous production at the Almeida in 2024, the most radical thing a director could do is to just give us a good version of the play - no gimmicks in casting or set design. Just give us a good Tennessee Williams revival.

Playing drunk is HARD but playing a believable (albeit comically) drunk for 30+ nonstop minutes is even harder and these ladies knock it out of the park.

I’m curious if they’ve done serious work since the last posts in this thread because i thought this was a riot. People in the audience tonight were almost screaming with laughter. I’ve never seen Kelli do this kind of physical comedy before and I want her to do so much more of it. Rose was such a natural onstage and again, just start to finish absolutely hilarious.

I wish I had seen it a few weeks ago to see if I just found this a hell of a lot funnier than others or

New Reading of TWO GENTLEMAN OF VERONA (Guare/MacDermot), directed by Alex Timbers

Oh pleeeeease give us a full production of this musical somewhere!

Paddington at the Al Hirschfeld
 Apr 17 2026, 11:31:30 AM

Nothing would make me happier than having VHB in NYC and becoming a Broadway star. If she doesn’t come with this show though, for some reason in my mind I just picture Laura Benanti making a meal out of the role.

New musical UNORTHODOX from Pasek and Taub to premiere at The Huntington during 26-27 season

Yes. It’s in the article.

Set in Brooklyn’s Hasidic Satmar community, UNORTHODOX follows Devorah, a 17-year-old entering an arranged marriage, alongside her grandmother Fraida’s earlier journey to America. The musical explores parallel choices about identity, faith, and independence.

The production marks t

Joe's Pub - Less Broadway?
 Apr 16 2026, 08:39:58 AM

I think there was a thread very recently where we were talking about this. Either that or I was just having a conversation with some people about missing the old Joe’s Pub. I wish we could bring back the early/mid 2000’s where tons of Broadway and off broadway people would stop by all the time.

Yes, 54 Below has pretty much replaced it as far as theater people go, but i don’t always want to spend $100 to see something there (with the minimum). At Joe’s back in t

PROOF Previews

This was an overall very unfortunate production of a great play. If this is your first exposure to the material, I can't imagine you'd walk away understanding why it hit so hard originally or how on earth it won the Pulitzer. The main problem is some of the worst miscasting I've ever seen on a Broadway stage. I say this as someone who actually really does enjoy Ayo Edeberi on film. But there is not one true note to her Catherine on stage, not one believable line of dialogue.

New Billy Crystal one man show inspired by loss of his home in California wildfires to premiere at the Shubert in October
 Apr 15 2026, 01:04:52 AM

“700 Sundays” remains one of the best things I’ve ever seen, so this just became my most anticipated show of 2026.

Oh, maybe. I didn’t think they’d cut that one, for some reason.

I love her but the last thing that show needs is another song for that character.

DREAMGIRLS is finally returning to Broadway
 Apr 14 2026, 08:53:08 PM

I don’t care what they do as long as they do the original version of the score and not the updated BS to include “Listen”.

Just In Time 2.0 - Matthew Morrison
 Apr 13 2026, 10:18:52 PM

Morrison does it in a tiny little speedo, as well.

I thought he and the rest of the new cast was sensational. Sad he’s only doing it for a few weeks but I hope this dipping his foot back into live theater makes him want to do another show very soon.

One little Easter egg, he repeats a line that Terrence Mann used to say to a certain audience member each night during “Rocky Horror” as a little homage to where he started on Broadway and while ever

Right, but the show and the film have become synonymous with call outs. I honestly can’t understand this argument that one is known for it and the other isn’t.

That’s actually not true. It was a huge flop when it was released in 1975 and call outs began sometime in the late 70s when the movie began being shown at midnight screenings.
