Victoria is one of the most amazing people working in theater ANYWHERE. 

I’d expect “Paddington” to get probably the most nominations. 

I spoke to a cast member yesterday and asked About audience participation in that huge space (something all my Rocky friends have been pretty skeptical about) and was told “oh yeah we were thinking about that but we’re not sure. I mean, people will definitely do it but this isn’t like the movie so it’s not encouraged or anything”.

And my heart just SANK. 

I’d still give anything for 8 weeks of a “Broadway Greats” cast, like 

Mary - Patti LuPone

Abe - Brian Stokes Mitchell

Louise - Audra McDonald

John - Jonathan Groff

Simon - Lin Manuel Miranda

Is she still performing with her back to the audience for most of the show? Seeing this next week and increasingly dreading going to it. 

Tonya is beyond perfect casting for that role. 

Looks like they added more seats and jacked up the prices lol

The first maybe 25 rows or so are now around $500 each and then other seats start around $190. The back of the 4th level is $90 

Ok I got tix. FOMO got the better of me. Tickets aren’t as much as I thought they’d be (i mean they’re still stupid expensive for this show and this venue) but this is just the AMEX presale and they’re holding back 90% of the house, it looks like. 

The ONLY thing I wish was different about the London production is that Cole would have said something like “This is Judi Dench” to keep with the Blythe Danner bit here. 

Just thinking- there’s never been a straight man playing that role, has there? Maybe because he uses the word “fa*got?”

Praying Mason Alexander Park gets to bring their Mary to New York at some point because (and it shocked the hell out of me), they were the best Mary I’ve seen after Cole. I didn’t think anyone could knock Jinkx out of that second place spot but daaaaamn, Mason is good. 

During the BCEFA speech, Jane said tonight was Tony’s first show back - I didn’t know he was coming back so that was fun. Show is as great as always but this was the quietest overall audience I’d ever experienced with “Oh Mary”. They weren’t a bad audience but just not the laughing-hysterically for 80 minutes people I’ve seen in the dozen or so times I’ve seen the show. 

Even though the show proved they can continue to almost sell out with no “name” in the title role, it’s smart of them to get Jinkx back for those few slow tourist weeks, to ensure box office stays at the top. 

I saw Jane last night and she did NOT disappoint. I’ll always be amazed how every person to play that role finds a way to totally make it their own - I’ve said it before but it really is a testament to Cole’s brilliant script. And I love how you can tell how much of the audience are REAL fans of Jane/30 Rock, with that one little ad lib during the nurse’s audition. She treats it (rightfully so) as a throwaway line but damn it was funny. 

Julian was on as Mary’s Teacher when I saw it a couple days ago. He was FANTASTIC.
