Just saw a rumor online from “Theatrefanofficial” that this might be headed to London next summer.

This is so odd. So much of what makes the film so brilliant is Olivia Wilde’s direction (which I pray will be recognized, come awards season) along with the specific performances each actor gave. Besides cashing in on a popular film title, I’m struggling to see what the point of this would be.

Is this the play that was rumored to have Julia Roberts return to the stage?

I’d have no desire to see Platt in “Sunday” but he is currently giving the best performance I’ve ever seen him give in “Midnight at the Never Get” at The Menier. If that show can someone come over to NYC, I’d imagine he’d have a great shot at another Tony Award.

Part of me wonders if they add “Based on a true story” to the title, if that would mitigate a lot of the criticisms it would now face.

It looks like they’re filming it in December, so I’d at least expect people to be able to see it like that.

It is so interesting to have someone (Meg) almost done with her time in the show and only a couple people ever commenting on her. I also agree that she was the weakest I’ve ever seen in the role. It was the first time I’d ever seen it that I sat there pretty much never even cracking a smile. Amazingly she’s still packing them in though, so I suppose the show really can survive no matter the quality of the performance being given.

She doesn’t sound the same that she did 20 years ago but the last time I saw her in concert a couple years ago, she still sounded fantastic. Her voice isn’t gone - it’s different.

Gonna be a very interesting awards race between these plays.

As I was walking home last night, a Halal cart on 10th was playing Dolly at full volume and that put a huge smile on my face. It’s so rare that the world collectively feels the same weight of the loss of a celebrity. But she was so much more than just a celebrity, wasn’t she?

Maybe it’s because I’m still on the “Hadestown” high, but overall I was pretty disappointed in this today. Let me say that I love this musical and have seen it quite a lot over the years. And you’re never going to get a better cast for a filmed version of it than you have for this. The problem is that you’re watching a filmed concert so the only interesting things you can really do (cinematically) get old kind of fast and I actually found myself a bit bored towards the end. It’s not the show ...

It’ll be very interesting to see what happens, considering that just looking over “Six” Showtimes here in the city for the next five days, overall it’s not selling very well. Hopefully the sales pick up, but by this point a couple of weeks ago, “Hadestown” was already selling out showtimes.

Lots of one thousand dollar tickets available for the last performances. Insane.

Have tickets ever been as expensive as they are for Bowen? $120 for obstructed view balcony is kind of insane.
