Hey there, I've thought for a while about rewriting the musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory because to be honest, the current one is not the best, I have written a possible opening number and would like some opinions. The song title is 'How d'you do?/Be My Light'. BOLD BITS ARE EITHER STAGE DIRECTIONS OR ENSEMBLE LYRICS. (I thought a bit of humor about the Italian section would lighten up the mood)
How d’you do?/Be My Light:
CHARLIE-
Mr Green, always on the scene
Full of glory, selling the latest story
Mrs Plugh (Ploo), shining a shoe
Singing a song, I’ll join along
MRS PLUGH-
How d’you do Charlie?
CHARLIE-
How d’you do Mrs Plugh?
MRS PLUGH-
I’m getting along, son.
CHARLIE-
Great to hear. Goodbye! My shopping is done.
My cabbage in left and my paper in right.
Some day, I know. I wont have this fight.
But for now - I have to be bright.
HOW D’YOU DO?
-HOW’D YOU DO CHARLIE?
I’M GREAT.
-IT’S FINE
GOOD.
-GREAT
HOW D’YOU DO?
-AND YOU?
AND YOU?
E TU
- HUH?
Don’t you know Italian?
NOPE.
I’ll be cold tonight.
-Oh, he’ll be cold tonight.
I won’t have a light.
-He will not have a light.
But I know – I’m gonna be alright.
-He’s-gonna-be—alright_______________
How d’you do?
How d’you do?
How d’you do?
How d’you do___________
-Goodbye
-Cya
- Addio
Hey. I thought you didn’t know Italian.
*LAUGHS* *BANG IN SOUND*
*Charlie writes a letter*
In the distant moon,
I see ya dad,
I can see your face
And you are glad.
You’re son,
You’re star.
Has came,
So far.
So I beg you please
Stay by my side tonight,
And be my light.
How d’you do Dad?
Haven’t spoke in so long,
I know you’re some where,
So come home to where you belong.
*FOLDS LETTER LIKE PAPER AREOPLANE*
How d’you do?
How d’you do?
How d’you do?
How- d’you- do? ___________________
*THROWS PAPER*
Love from Charlie
