Like anybody in Hollywood has any brains, class or taste to do remake any of the classic musicals. CHICAGO was a lucky fluke, period.

A month or two ago, Broadway.com had an article about a new Bye Bye Birdie movie that will be "modern" and have an "urban" feel. I felt like crying when I heard of a modern Bye Bye Birdie. Let the poor show rest with the two movies they have already.

Not to mention "Bring Back Birdie". And may it rest forever in its grave, and NEVER return!

I think Grease would be a good remake, but most people loved Johnny, sooo leave it alone, it is MT history, it did great things for MT when it was on the boards forever.

I agree with the fact the The Wizard Of Oz shouldn't be remade. I grew up on that moive and nothing coul ever compair to that moive.

Also I heard the Grease thing but as a 3rd moive not a remake. So what are they thinking them old, or there kids in school? I don't know I don't think it'll go over so well.

As long as they don't try to remake Thoroughly Modern Millie!
The film has so much more going for it than the cut and paste job playing at the Marquis. You couldn't find great personalities like Andrews, Channing, Moore and Lillie today. And no, I wouldn't want to see Sutton Foster, to me she isn't Millie. Godzilla yes, Millie no no no.

Exactly. Ms. Foster is as good as she'll ever get in TMM, that's for sure, but one thing is for certain: she ain't no star and never will be.

>Another idea that Disney could have fun with I think is Into >the Woods Movie? Just an Idea I think Sutton would be a great >Cinderella.

I think they tried to do Woods as a film... I don't think it was ever completed.

I was involved in some demos for it. There was a lovely new song called "Rainbows" and a revised opening number. But the film never went into production.

See my other post Dollypop. We don't all have access to theatre the way you seem to.Some of us can't get to the theatre, some of us can't afford theatre, some of us are in both boats!

I love theatre. I loved seeing Godspell on theatre, but I loved watching the film as well. Film just doesn't hold the trauma for most of us that it seems to hold for you.

There are changes in the translation whether it's book to film (I was surprised that I didn't mind the removal of one of my favorite scenes from "The Princess Bride" when they filmed it.) or stage to film (And, I would have to imagine, from film to stage; they have to have made some changes in Singing In The Rain as well as some other musicals that started as films.) but it's a different medium and you have to accept that. (Well, [you] don't because you avoid movies, but you're cutting yourself off from quite a bit!)
