"On the heels of the announcement that Ben Elton, librettist for We Will Rock You, will be working with Andrew Lloyd Webber on the sequel to The Phantom of the Opera, comes the news that Queen guitarist Brian May is working on a sequel to that selfsame We Will Rock You."
As long as neither musical comes to New York, I'm happy.
I saw the show in Vegas and was just absolutely offended. The storyline and book is some of the worst stuff I have ever seen put on a stage.
The new orchestrations were very cool and they were all fabulous singers but as a long-time QUEEN fan, I felt like they ruined the genius of Mr. Mercury.
I was able to sit through it but it was just terrible. Ben Elton is really rackin' up the credits, isn't he? yuck.
I do love the music for WWRY, but a sequel?! Seriously?!
someone's hurting for a paycheque...
If they didn't do the original in New York, I doubt that they'd do a sequel in New York. It wouldn't make sense. This will get canceled in a couple months, and then they'll wait a couple years, start with it again, and then cancel it. Besides, what songs would it have? I don't know Queen well, but I think that they used almost every major song in the original.
Well, then again ALW also thinks he can do it...
WHEN WILL THEY LEARN?
Annie 2?
Bring Back Birdie?
Shall we even CONSIDER what Phantom 2 will look like?
I can't stand the first Phantom, so you can only guess how I feel about the second one.
If only a chandilier would fall on ALW.
True 'dat!
